With fans eagerly anticipating the official showcase ofGrand Theft Auto 6after the announcement of its early development in 2022 andits recent leak, Rockstar most certainly have multiple templates to use this time around. Despite each entry in the franchise maintaining different stories, characters, and locations, there are a variety of aspects within each that led toward their huge levels of success.

More notably,GTA San Andreasis still regarded as one of if not the best titles in the series for a variety of reasons, and if developers should look back on any predecessors for ideas, this classic title would be the one to focus on.
5Gym
While all the entries after the release ofSan Andreasmaintained the level of success and notoriety of the entire franchise, one of the huge omissions in all titles is the ability to attend the gym as an activity. Despite there being gym locations that are available to visit in titles such asGTA 5with Franklin sometimes seen working out whencharacter swapping, it is not possible to actively use any equipment or participate in any mini-game which stands as an odd choice.
In addition to all the new and old free-roaming activities that will definitely be present inGTA 6, developers should take this idea fromSan Andreasand include this on this occasion, especially if features such as weight changes that are present inRed Dead Redemption 2are also used here.

4Gang Rallies/Gang Wars
Aside from the main missions inGTA 5and some portions of free-roaming, the gang-related content was severely lacking, whereasSan Andreaswas heavily centered on this aspect. With the ability to form rallies at any time depending on the level of ‘Respect’ stat among the character statistics, and the ‘Gang Wars’ feature, there was so much more for players to engage within in the 2004 title.

Depending on the story ofGTA 6and whether or not it involves gang activity, Rockstar should certainly look to include some form of group rallies or a way to work alongside allies outside of main missions alone, as this will prolong and improve players' experience. Seeing this done in a modern setting opposite to theRed Dead Redemptionexperience, would be interesting to say the least, given the great level of advancement present in open-world games sinceSan Andreas' 2004 release.
3Weight Gain & Loss
Present in bothSan AndreasandRed Dead Redemption 2, is the very realistic feature that determines the player’s weight depending on how much they eat, and how much activity they partake in. This coincides with the aforementioned activity of going to the gym inSan Andreas, and if it is due to be included inGTA 6, this is a primary component that must be involved otherwise it would be irrelevant.
Just as this directly affected gameplay inSan Andreaslimiting how fast CJ could run if he was overweight, and the same with Arthur Morgan inRed Dead Redemption 2, seeing this replicated inGTA 6would take the title closer to becoming the most realistic open-world true to life gaming experience. It would also add greater purpose and importance to visiting restaurants, or other activities in the game that would be related to constant movement.

2Romance
Possibly the most confusing omission out of all when going from the likes ofSan AndreastoGTA 5, is the romance features in which players could delve into romance with multiple different women with CJ. Aside from the mention ofFranklin’s prior relationshipinGTA 5and the chance to romance strippers, this feature has been non-existent since bothSan AndreasandGTA 4.
Other open-world titles such asSleeping Dogsmanaged to capture this aspect very well despite some of the interactions with love interests being scripted, and these were more than enough to satisfy players within this region. With all the prior renditions ofGrand Theft AutonotablySan Andreasand seeing how other franchises and games have successfully implemented romance, Rockstar has the opportunity to include this inGTA 6and completely take up to a new level players have not seen before.

1Long Runtime
AlongsideGTA 5,San Andreasstands as the longestGrand Theft Autotitle so far with aplethora of missions, characters, regions, and activities to encounter and participate in. This was not a title that was long for the sake of it, but its content kept players engaged throughout, including many twists and turns in the plot that left many surprised.
For players who are fans of open-world titles, Rockstar’sGrand Theft Autofranchise is seen as the epitome of a life-like video game experience, and seeing a runtime that is long enough to keep players satisfied for years to come is definitely plausible. Based on the length of both recent titles inGTA 5andRed Dead Redemption 2, it is highly likely thatGTA 6could follow in the same footsteps especially if all the aforementioned features will be present throughout the game when it is finally released.
