ThoughMicrosoft Flight Simulatorhasits fair share of bizarre bugs, nothing compares to a recent discovery of an in-game black hole. User ReversedWindow posted a video on the MicrosoftFlightSim subreddit, where they were consumed by the monstrous anomaly along with the game’s simulated countryside. The post has been a big hit in the subreddit, receiving more than 3,500 upvotes as of this time of writing and becoming the all-time upvoted post there.
FellowMicrosoft Flight Simulatorplayers expressed amusement at ReversedWindow’s discovery, comparing the gigantic void toInterstellarorKerbal Space Program, with many wondering where exactly the black hole was. Users confirmed that the glitch in the matrix is located at SBLG Lagoa Nova Airport in Brazil, with a bug involving the airport’s low elevation being chalked up as the reason for the black hole’s existence.

WhileMicrosoft Flight Simulatorhas received an abundance of critical acclaim for its amazing graphics and incredible dedication to realism, this black hole is not an isolated incident. There have been many unusual sightings in the game froman incredibly tall skyscraper in the simulated version of Melbourne, Australiato Buckingham Palace being depicted as an office block.
Though this particular freak occurrence is especially egregious due to its scale and surreality, there is at least an understandable reason to why this was not picked up before in the game’s alpha and beta testing. Since the small airport is located in rural Brazil, other players simply have not just sighted it prior to ReversedWindow encountering it. Previously-sighted and more well-known anomalies were found in areas players would be more likely to fly through such asthe Washington Monument becoming a skyscraperor Stonehenge disappearing.
While these issues are still being worked on by Asobo Studio as they update the simulated world, theMicrosoft Flight Simulatorcommunity has been hard at work at filling in the gaps withreworks of global landmarks and even the skylines of some cities. The game’s reliance on Bing Maps has mostly presented a highly detailed simulation of the world, but there are still many oddities in the simulation. But though these bugs will almost certainly be fixed by either Asobo Studio or the community itself, their mere existence can still provide a great deal of amusement for players.
Microsoft Flight Simulatoris available for PC. An Xbox One version is in development.
