The Amargasaurus isa tank of a dinosaur. It has high health that increases well when tamed and has a Food stat that will mean players very rarely need to feed it, which allows it to be a bit of a “tame, station and forget about” kind of companion.
The movement speed is impressive but when considering the way its body is, it’s hard to expect anything different. What many do not expect is the Torpidity. This dinosaur can survive anywhere and under almost any circumstance so players don’t need to be concerned when bringing it into a rather challenging environment.
It may not have a huge melee damage capability but it will put up a fight and the health will let it keep going if needed.
What It’s Good For
The Amargasaurus is good for many things. It’s quick, has a good swim speed, and can fire its useful, often explosive, spikes at enemies.
Movement/ Travel
There are a fair few Dinosaursthat do well with traveling, specifically when a player can either fly on their back or simply sit as they speed through the beautiful landscapes ofArk: Survival Evolved.

When it comes to the Amargasaurus it would be completely understandable to make it a purely explorative companion. After all, it has a good movement speed and also has a great swim speed allowing players to get everywhere quickly and efficiently without the need to avoid water or other elements. That, combined with its useful combat moves, players will have an ideal traveling companion to accompany them anywhere they need to go.
Combat
Combat itself is where the Amargasaurus really thrives. It’s got spikes on its back that acts as both a weapon anda useful item to harvest, which doesn’t kill the animal since it often drops them of its own accord.
If using them in battle, the creature will fling its spikes at the enemy, often being able to choose betweenArmor Spikes, Heat Spikes, or Cold Spikesdepending on what will be the most effective at the time. These spikes will also explode on impact and can reach some impressive distances and heights if required. It’s like the player’s personal archer.
How To Tame
Since the Amargasaurus is rather aggressive to any humans and carnivores it comes across, taming the creature needs to be done with great care. There are a few tips required to successfully and non-violently tame the Amargasaurus:
Essentially, the player will need to be very careful and can use a Calien Soup to sync to the same temperature. This will need to be topped up throughout the process so verify to bring more. The process itself may take a bit of getting used to but players should be okay if they have the required resources. Be sure to not bring any carnivorous companions or they may be attacked.
How To Craft A Saddle
Once the creature has been tamed, this open-world survival game requires the player to place a saddle onto it. This will enable them to ride the creature back to their base and wherever they want henceforth.This dinosaur needs an Amargasaurus saddleif players want to ride it. To craft the saddle, players will need a few ingredients:
The Hide itself is relatively easy to get hold of, simply requiring the player to harvest a few fallen dinosaurs with a Pickaxe or a Metal Hatchet for the most effective reward.
As for the Fiber, head towards a greener part of the island and harvest the plants around the floor. Getting 140 of this shouldn’t be too much of a challenge, depending on where the player is located in Ark: Survival Evolved.

The Metal Ingots require the player to harvest Metal that can be found within Rocks. Use a Pickaxe for the best chance of getting this specific item. Then, simply put it in a forge and players will get the Metal Ingots. Two metal makes a metal ingot so players will need around60 metalto make this saddle.
The Amargasaurus Spikes are a bit more of a challenge, especially if players haven’t quite tamed the Amargasaurus yet. It’s worth trying to tame it first to get into the selection wheel and take a spike.
