Summary
Players didn’t waste time putting the mech customization to use insideArmored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, with one player channeling the classic anime mech Voltron for their combat suit. Anime is proving to be a popular source of inspiration for many players inside the game as severalsuits taking inspiration fromGundamhave already appeared online. While those may better fit the darker themes of the game’s world, one player wants to channel their inner space explorer and perform heroic acts akin to the members of the Voltron Force.
Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubiconis the latest entry in FromSoftware’s mech combat game series and the first title to release in roughly a decade, with the previous being 2013’sArmored Core: Verdict Day. The game takes place on the planet Rubicon 3, which houses a versatile, but dangerous, resource named Coral which has drawn the eyes of various competing factions and corporations. Players take control of an augmented human mercenary piloting an Armored Core mech suit who has found themselves thrust into the conflict quickly engulfing the whole planet.

As the game goes on, players can customize their Armored Core mech to fit their play-styles and visual tastes, leading to creations such as one player’s Voltron-inspired suit. Reddit user jrto2 shared their finished creation, using the game’s creation tools to as closely match their own mech to theVoltron Force’s imposing walker. While the lion heads from the individual mechs cannot be replicated in the game, jrto2 made sure their Armored Core’s body profile and color scheme was as accurate to the anime as they could make it.
The image does not show what weapons jrto2 has equipped on their Armored Core, though players could argue which ones would best fit with the aesthetic on display. While an argument can be made for any of the game’s missile launches or laser cannons to act in place of the Voltron Force’s ranged weapons, there are no blades in the game that could serve as a surrogate forVoltron’s iconic Blazing Sword.
A Voltron-inspired mech is proving to be the tip of the iceberg as players continue experimenting with the all the weapons and body parts available to bring their own Armored Core to life. Whether it has been awalking John Deere tractoror a mech version of Venom, there’s been seemingly no limit to player creativity in the game’s short lifespan.
Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubiconis currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
