Aspects ofAssassin’s Creed Hexesuch as its setting and involved gameplay are currently unknown, although fans have already developed some theories that hold a lot of plausibility. The Rumored Setting of Assassin’s Creed Hexe
The main source of information that players have pooled their theories from have stemmed from what littlepromotional material exists forAssassin’s Creed Hexe, such as its reveal trailer. Interestingly, the trailer for the game shows an Assassin Brotherhood symbol made of twigs being ominously hung from the branches of a forest, with the only light source in the video stemming from a crackling fire.
Hexe’strailer has overtly dark themes and connotations throughout, which has led many to believe that the game will feature witchcraft in some form, with the name ofHexeonly reinforcing this notion. If this is to be the case, then it is likely that the game will be set during the reign of the Holy Roman Empire, placing the title between the years 800 to 1806 AD. This time period was an era of intense persecution against women who were deemed to be witches, with the unprecedented scale and influence of the Holy Roman Empire being the perfect kind of religiously-backed organization foragents of the Templar Order to infiltrate and control.

Assassin’s Creed Origins Mechanics That Could Appear In Hexe
Assassin’s Creed Originsreleased in 2017, and boldly spearheaded theACfranchise into its new identity as a more open-world experience reliant on RPG elements. The unique nature of the game even extended to its core narrative, with the title doing away with the usual focus on the Assassin Brotherhood and opting to show the formation of itsprecursor group known as the Hidden Ones.
As a bold new RPG-styled title, it is no wonder thatAssassin’s Creed Originsboasted many fresh mechanicsthat had not been seen before within the storied IP. One mechanic ofOriginsin particular stands out as being ripe for readoption in the upcomingAssassin’s Creed Hexe, and that mechanic is the ability to tame animals.
WithinOrigins, the player was able to tame animals by putting them to sleep and interacting with them, with the animal then following and fighting alongside the player upon awakening. IfAssassin’s Creed Hexeis to opt for the setting of a European coven of witches, then it is likely that large portions of the game will occur within the same kind of sinister forests that featured in the aforementioned teaser trailer for the game. This setting would of course be home to a huge range of fauna, fostering the perfect opportunity for the animal taming ofOriginsto feature once more.
The taming of animals and their usage in combat perfectly fits thematically with the elements of witchcraft thatHexewill likely explore, and these animals could be how the characters of the title gain an edge over the armies of assailants that will be persecuting them. It remains to be seen whetherHexewill explore this kind of setting, but animal taming should surely return if it does.
Assassin’s Creed Hexeis currently in development.
