Avatar: Frontiers of Pandorahas just revealed its first DLC story expansion, titledTheSky Breaker, during June 10’s Ubisoft Forward livestream. Back in December, futureStar Wars Outlawsdeveloper Massive Entertainment releasedAvatar: Frontiers of Pandora, an open-world, first-person action-adventure title set in the universe of James Cameron’sAvatarmovies. In it, players take the role of a Na’vi orphan who reconnects with their heritage as a member of the lost Sarentu Clan after escaping from an RDA facility - and soon rises to unite the different tribes and defend their home from the human invaders.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandorawas met with mixed reviews at launch, earning praise for its stunning recreation of the colorful world of the films while catching criticism for relying too much on the “Na’vi sense” mechanic and feeling a littletoo similar to Ubisoft’sFar Cryfranchiseat times. Nonetheless,Avatar: Frontiers of Pandoracontinues to receive regular updates, and it was one of the many titles shown during the recent Ubisoft Forward June 2024 livestream. Its presence at the event was heralded by a montage of famous video game streamers playing through it, and this was just the lead-in to a major announcement from Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment.
This announcement was for the firstAvatar: Frontiers of Pandorastory DLC, which is titledTheSky Breaker. Taking place after the events of the main game, theSky Breakertrailer begins withthe Na’vi celebrating their victoryover the RDA with an ancient festival called “The Great Games.” However, the festivities are soon cut short by a crashing RDA airship, which leads to another attack from the humans. The player Na’vi is undeterred by this, narrating that their people will “rise stronger” from this latest ordeal. The trailer also includes the DLC’s release date of June 11, 2025.

What follows next is a montage of gameplay, with the player riding through various environments on what appears to be a new mountable creature andbattling their way through RDA forcesusing their trusty bow and arrows. Among the enemies shown in the latestAvatar: Frontiers of Pandoratrailer are RDA mechs holding large shields - as well as returning villain Colonel Angela Harding in her own mech with flamethrowers and what looks like mounted cannons.
The Sky Breakerexpansion will be available inAvatar: Frontiers of Pandora’s Season Pass- along with the second confirmed DLC expansion,Secrets of the Spires, which will supposedly add a new region of Pandora and focus on aerial combat with the Banshee. In the meantime, players who enjoyed trekking through the wilderness ofAvatar: Frontiers of Pandorashould mark their calendars for the game’s first DLC story later this summer.
