Updated on August 01, 2025 by Jake Fillery:Hogwarts Legacy continues to amaze Harry Potter fans with its attention to detail. From Hogwarts, to the four Houses available. Yet, when players use the Sorting Hat and are placed into their chosen House, they are bound to wonder what would it be like to be friends with other Housemates from perhaps Slytherin or Hufflepuff. To help players better understand the best companions in Hogwarts Legacy, key information will be provided on what exactly companions do, what associated quests they have, and information that helps to develop a basis of who they are as an up-and-coming witch or wizard.
What Do Companions Do?
Companions inHogwarts Legacyact like Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. They will be great allies and friends to the player, and help the player get into mischief both inside and outside the castle walls. Companions will always have something to say, anda story of their ownthat is worth following and helping them through in their activities.
Companions cannot be kept around at all times, and there are only certain moments inHogwarts Legacywhen players can be accompanied by one of the companions. However, their company is always worth it for the friendship, and they can hold their own in a fight, which makes them a great ally for the dangers ahead.

Are There Missable Companion Activities?
Companions unlock specific activities and missions for the player to experience. There are a few factors that players need to consider to better understand their place inHogwarts Legacy. Firstly, despite completing the main story, the missions availablefrom companions are not missable, as some are essential to the main story itself, even if players are in a different House than their chosen companion.
The player’s House cannot be changed, meaning that some quests are House dependant, but never relationship quests with companions. Furthermore, it is worth noting that players can missDark Arts spellsif they choose the wrong dialogue with Sebastian Sallow’s Relationship Questline.

Can Companions Be Romanced?
Despite the dialogue options inHogwarts Legacy, it is not possible to romance the companion characters. Players will not have to worry about romancing another character, as they will be more focused on their studies ofspells and potionsas students, and their dialogue only briefly affects the actions and behaviors of others, rather than having a mainstay when it comes to romance.
Players can build friendships with their companions through the right dialogue options, and not to be so horrible. However, players cannot romance characters inHogwarts Legacy, so it’s best to not even try, as things might get awkward between Housemates and students.

Ravenclaw’s Aspiring Wizarding Historian
Quests Involving Amit Thakkar
The Ravenclaw companion that players will encounter is Amit Thakkar, a gifted student with an adoration for stargazing and knowledge. Amit Thakkar immediately introduces himself to the player as a friendly face, and will even gift his telescope to the player with no charge, nor will he ask a favor for it.This Ravenclaw companioninHogwarts Legacyis an exceptional friend, but not the best fighter. In terms of missions, Amit really doesn’t get to shine, and he is only involved in minor quests, not major plot points or relationships like most other characters.
Although Amit Thakkar has grand ambitions and a great mind, he’s a companion who is better off hearing about the adventures of the new fifth-year student, rather than experiencing such thrills alongside them. Amit prefers the knowledge and wonder inside Hogwarts, and would rather avoid anywhere with cobwebs that could indicate spiders, or perhaps anything that could spell the slightest inclination of trouble.

Hufflepuff’s Kindest Student Cares For Animals and Creatures
Quests Involving Poppy Sweeting
One of the kind-hearted students that the player will meet during their time at Hogwarts is Poppy Sweeting. Poppy is a Hufflepuff and quickly befriends the player during their first encounter at Professor Howin’s firstbeast class. Poppy helps the player encounter beasts, and with the help of her Puffskein, Gerald will teach the player how to groom and feed beasts so that they are more loving and trusting.
Poppy hates animal cruelty, and poachers alike, and will dedicate her time and passion to stopping any cruelty against such beautiful beasts. Along her quest, the player will assist her, and become good friends with Poppy. There are also some great quests through Poppy’s relationship questline, in which players will interact with some iconic and stunning beats inHogwarts Legacy.

Beast Friends Achievement
For players looking to collect every trophy inHogwarts Legacy, becoming friends and completing Poppy’s relationship questline will grant them the Beast Friends trophy. There are a total of 8 quests to complete with Poppy to get this achievement, and they all involve helping the magical creatures of the Wizarding World.
A Magical Theory Professor With Heroic Ambitions
Quests Involving Professor Fig
One of the wisest and friendliest faces that players will encounter through Hogwarts isProfessor Eleazar Fig. Professor Fig specializes in Magical Theory but is better known to the player as a mentor. Before embarking on Hogwarts as a fifth-year student, Professor Fig taught the player the basics of spellcasting, and the magical world they were about to embark on. Fig and the fifth-year student have a great relationship somewhatreminiscent of Harry Potter and Dumbledore.
As players venture through the main quest ofHogwarts Legacy, they will find themselves unraveling a mystery with Fig at their side. There’s perhaps no greater teacher and intelligent mind to bring along for the quest, as Professor Fig has the experience, talent, and personal interest in this mission to get to the bottom of it.

Professor Fig may not be the most logical choice for a companion, considering he has his lessons to teach students, adult responsibilities, and tasks that only he can accomplish, but that’s what makes him great. Professor Fig is a great teacher, and one who will guide the player protagonist through missions and new spells, even if that means he doesn’t sneak out to Hogsmeade for a butterbeer.
A Prime Example of Gryffindor’s Excellence
One of the kindest and most adventurous souls inHogwarts Legacyis Natsai Onai. Natsai is a natural Gryffindor for her personality and courage and immediately makes herself friendly to the new player-created fifth-year student. Befriending Natsai will unlock exclusive quests that the player can indulge in alongside their new friend. Natsai doesn’t care for Hogwarts house rivalries, and will always be a helping hand for the player, a trustworthy ally to venture to class with or to embark toHogsmeade to sell some unwanted goods, or buy some treats.
What makes Natsai one of the bestHogwarts Legacycompanions is not only her kind heart or the fact that she wants justice for all, but for her backstory. Natsai attended the African wizarding school of Uagadou, where witches and wizards do not need wands. She came to Hogwarts with her mother, after accepting the position of Divination Professor at Hogwarts.

The Avenging Gazelle Achievement
Natsai Onai will have 7 relationship quests that the player needs to complete if they are to claim her achievement for 100% inHogwarts Legacy. These missions are as just and rebellious as one would expect from a Gryffindor, as the player and Natsai will rescue Hippogriffs and battle those that use the Dark Arts.
Slytherine’s Youthful Student Obsessed With Dark Arts
Quests Involving Sebastion Sallow
Inclassic Slytherin tradition, Sebastian Sallow is one who firmly believes that rules are made to be broken. One of Sebastian’s biggest interests, talents, and secrets, is his mastery of the dark arts, which consists of Unforgivable Curses that Hogwarts forbids, and the magical world of witches and wizards see as somewhat illegal. Nevertheless, Sebastian does not seek the power of Unforgivable Curses for power and curiosity alone, as he is desperate to find a cure for his sister, Anne, who has been cursed with an unknown and mysterious illness that is seen as incurable.
Sebastian is a friendly character who will help the player on more than one occasion. His loyalty is bound to his sister, and the trust that he may find if the player allows him in. Sebastian is a good character who deserves his shot, as he just wants to save his sister, even if that risks the wrath of Hogwarts expulsion and a fate with the Ministry of Magic. Nevertheless, Sebastian is essential if the player wants to learn some of the dark and forbidden magic, including Avada Kedavra inHogwarts Legacy.

Players won’t need to be a part of Slytherin to activate this quest chain, as Sebastian Sallow’s story is integral and weaved into the main narrative of the game. In these quests, players will find themselves at the height of morality. The decision between good and evil has never been so divisive, especially when mastering the Dark Arts is involved.
A Sallow Grave Achievement
Sebastian Sallow has by far the most in-depth quest chain of any character inHogwarts Legacy, and he is integral to the game’s main story and enriches the side missions with his relationship quest. Players will need to complete the 9 relationship quests attached to Sebastian Sallow to earn this trophy, which involves the duo getting up to some Dark Arts mischief, either as allies or enemies.
