Summary
Some of the biggest titles in manhwa include action, fighting, and adventure, but even among allthe fantastical elements, some things keep stories grounded and relatable. One of those things is family. Although they may not show up often, the main character’s family can sometimes serve as a source of motivation or a device used to break the tension in the story of a manhwa.
Those family moments add to characterization and world-building, as the focus is taken off the main character and onto the background. These moments in manhwa tend to be popular because these added details make characters more endearing. In recent years, there have been even moremanhwa about family dynamicsthat explore specific character tropes and their impact on the setting.

Updated July 15, 2025 by Garrett Huon:In this update, four fantastic family manhwa will be added to this list with most of them being set in the real world. Many of the manhwa on this list take place in fantasy settings, but there are some good stories about real-life circumstances. The families in these manhwa will deal with problems many people face, like poverty, estrangement, and abuse. They are incredibly wholesome and heartwarming, which makes them great for this list.
1My Daughter, The Music Prodigy
Professional Musician Learns The Wonders Of Fatherhood
Cho Sunghyun hits rock bottom afterhis daughter dies, and he realizes he spent his life working rather than living with her. Just when he decides to end his life, he wakes up ten years in the past. This time he vows to take care of his daughter and be a good father. It just so happens that his daughter has a natural talent for music.
Father-daughter stories are popular, but normally they are told from the perspective of the child. This manhwa is full of sweet moments and scenes where Sunghyun is reflecting on his past behavior and his neglect. It’s refreshing to see the dad work harder to improve the relationship instead of the child, which is a prominent approach in similar stories.

2It’s My First Time Being Loved
The Fated Heroine Gets To Have A Real Family
The protagonist has lived 99 lives as a hero fated tosacrifice herself for the world. She’s never once been cherished by her family or the ones she’s saved, and each life has had the same bitter ending. Expecting the same from her 100th life, the protagonist is shocked to see a loving family waiting for her. In this life, she is Anastasia, the adorable youngest daughter of the Endeblanc ducal house.
From the beginning, the story establishes the protagonist’s personality and feelings after all her lives. Despite her jaded view of life, the story is still very wholesome, giving particular focus to the gestures of affection Anastasia receives from her family. It’s very uplifting to see how her character grows in this manhwa.

3My Daughter Is The Final Boss
At the end of the world, Seojun Lee confronts the person responsible for the surrounding destruction. It’s his daughter, Seola Lee. He had neglected Seola and her mother since she was born, and now, it will lead to his death. However, he wakes up in the past with a new mission: to be a better dad.
This manhwa is great because most regression stories are driven by selfish desires or revenge. It’s rare that the protagonist actually regrets his past and actively looks to fix his mistakes. On top of that, the time Seojun takes to be a better partner and father is actually more interesting than all thehunter and dungeon content.

4Not-Sew-Wicked Stepmom
The Evil Stepmom Turns Her Life Around
After overworking herself to death, Lily reincarnates as Abigail Friedkin, the evil queen in theSnow White-inspired novel she once read. Abigail hated her step-daughter Blanche in the book and constantly abused her, but now, she wants to fix their relationship. Unfortunately, consistent trauma is not so easily remedied.
This story is very wholesome, as each family member is trying to overcome their personal issues to be a better person, specifically Abigail and Sabrian. Their romance is slow, so there is much more focus on them fixing their relationship with Blanche.

A Fangirl Accidentally Becomes A Stepmom
The protagonist dies in a car accident and is reborn in her favorite book “Persona.” Her new identity as Aisha Heathcliff means nothing to the original plot, so she takes personal liberties to watch the original main character, Abel Louvrement. Of course, her stalking gets her into trouble and causes more than a few misunderstandings, leading to an unlikely romance.
This manhwa is great forfans of romantic isekai. Even though the story may seem similar to many others, many great twists and story beats shake up the usual framework. Of the manhwa that use similar settings, it’s one of the best. It’s a fun and wholesome tale that stands out with its cute characters and good writing.

6I Became A Doting Father
A Story About A Single Father
Though there are many family manhwa set in fantasy worlds, there are also some set in real life. This story is about Juwon, who adopts his little cousin after his uncle dies. Although he did it on a whim, Juwon puts his all into providing a good environment for Yeondo. However, he soon learns how terrible Yeondo’s life was with her father. Slowly but surely, they build a good relationship and eventually become a real family.
This manhwa is especially sweet and focuses on Juwon and Yeondo’s new life together. Stories like this are often from the child’s perspective, so it’s nice to see the parent’s side of things. This story does some interesting things, like having the characters create a YouTube channel, but other than that, there isn’t much of a plot other than showing how happy they are together.

7My Numbered Days Of Happiness
A Little Girl Makes The Most Of 21 Years
Being reincarnated doesn’t always mean things will work out. After dying of illness in her first life, the protagonist is reborn as Princess Isabelle Bilothian from a novel she read. In that novel, Isabelle is cursed to die at the age of 21, but despite that, the protagonist isn’t deterred. She was terminally ill in her first life, so at least she’ll be able to live and experience new things in the second one. While using her knowledge of the story, she experiences many great things but also many dangers.
Although this story is set up like many other family manhwa, the family dynamics in it are actually very wholesome. Not only is the entire family still alive, but there is no overhanging drama or negativity. It’s a feel-good adventure for someone who is enjoying the time they have alive. The mother is caring, the father is tsundere, and the brothers enjoy having a little sister. It’s a wholesome story where everyone falls in love with the main character.

8The Monstrous Duke’s Adopted Daughter
A Brave Girl’s Search For A New Family
In manhwa, not all families are loving, and it’s usually the children who suffer the most. In this story, Leslie was born to be a sacrifice for her older sister, a means of increasing her sibling’s magical power. However, before she can be killed, her powers awaken and save her. With her newfound abilities, Leslie seeks refuge with her family’s enemies, the Salvators, and she is soon adopted into the duchy.
Like many other family manhwa, this story focuses on Leslies new life with her family, experiencing love and care for the first time. However, Leslie isn’t just passively receiving the affections of her family; she’s making her own efforts to grow, get stronger, and control her powers. Her development in this story is amazing, and it’s one of the few that involves real conflict.

9Mom, I’m Gay
A Relatable Story About Being LGBTQ+
Coming out as LGBTQ+ can be a stressful time, especially when it comes to family.Mom, I’m Gayis a story about Jin and RIn, childhood friends that have the same secret: they’re both gay. When their respective households find out, things get much more complicated. Jin struggles with his family seeing him differently, and Rin’s relationship with her mother gets even more tense.
There aren’t many manhwa that cover topics like this, and when they do, it’s usually in the context of a romantic relationship. The family’s perspective is largely ignored. Seeing the thoughts and reactions of the parents and siblings helps this story feel more believable. In fact, many LGBTQ+ readers may find this manhwa incredibly relatable given how many experiences appear to be universal within the community.

10My Daughter Is A Zombie
A Father Never Gives Up On His Daughter
The zombie apocalypse is usually a time of fear and panic, but this manhwa portrays it a little less seriously. Lee Jeonghwan and his daughter Su-ah immediately escape from the city, but Su-ah gets bitten in the process, turning her into a zombie. Jeonghwan doesn’t want to give up on her, and even after the crisis is over, she’s the last living zombie.
This manhwa features mostly goofy moments where Jeonghwan is trying to keep Su-ah from biting him and teaching her to live as a human again, but all those things only prove how much he loves her. Despite being a comedy,My Daughter Is a Zombieis one of the most heartfelt father-daughter manhwa to exist.
