Boruto: Naruto Next Generationsis the sequel to theNarutoseries, written by Masashi Kishimoto. In an announcement onViz Media’sofficialTwitteraccount, it was confirmed thatBorutoPart I is set to air its final episode on March 26. The anime entered the Code arc on February 12 and will likely end on a cliffhanger. According to the announcement, Part II of the anime has already been given the green light. There have been no further updates as to why the anime is taking a break, but it may be connected to the harsh criticism the series has received.

Boruto: Naruto Next Generationswas originally written by Ukyo Kodachi, with Masashi Kishimoto as the editorial supervisor for the project. In November 2020, Kishimoto took over as Kodachi stepped down from his role. The manga started serialization in the Weekly Shonen Magazine in May 2016. It was transferred to the V Jump in 2019. The manga has a total of 19 volumes, and the number will only continue to increase, barring any unexpected breaks. The manga is also released monthlyon the Shonen Jumpapp.

Boruto: Naruto Next Generationshas multiple novels to its name. Kō Shigenobu and Miwa Kiyomune haveworked on the five novels, with Mikio Ikemoto providing the illustrations. The first novel is titledThe New Konoha Ninja Flying in the Blue Sky!and it was released in May 2017.A Call From the Shadows!was the subsequent release; it came out in July 2017. The next two novels were titledThose Who Illuminate the Night of Shinobi!, andSchool Trip Bloodwind Records!, which were released in September and November 2017, respectively. The fifth and final novel,The Last Day at the Ninja Academy!came out in January 2018.

The anime adaptation started airing on June 30, 2025, and it took a different approach in comparison to the manga. Prior to the release of the anime,Studio Pierrot released a movietitledBoruto: Naruto the Movie. It was a big success, and it garnered many plaudits for its animation and storytelling.

The show focuses on the adventures of Boruto Uzumaki, the son of Naruto and Hinata. Boruto and the rest of the new generation of ninjas grow up in a completely different erain comparison to their parents, causing them to have completely different outlooks.
