The Lizalfos have been a part of theLegend of Zeldafranchise as far back asOcarina of Time. InBreath of the Wild, players can defeat Lizalfos to farm Lizalfos Tails. The type of Lizalfos will determine the type of tail it can potentially drop. Additionally, there are several armor sets that require different types of Lizalfos Tails for their upgrades.
Breath of the Wildhas seven types of Lizalfos: Standard (ie: Green, Black, Blue, or Silver), Ice-Breath, Electric, and Fire-Breath. Most Lizalfos will drop regular Lizalfos Tails. The Ice-Breath, Fire-Breath, and Electric Lizalfos are unique in that they drop different colored tails. Lizalfos may be weaker than Lynels, but they’re swift, can swim, and can even attack from a distance. For some players, this makes them a nuisance to farm materials.

Where to Find Lizalfos
Standard/Green Lizalfoscan be fond just about anywhere, but they seem to preferareas near watersuch asshorelines or sunken ruins. As Link frees more of the Divine Beasts, he’ll run into stronger versions of the Green Lizalfos. These are theBlue Lizalfos, Black Lizalfos, andSilver Lizalfos.
Despite their names, the Blue/Black/Silver Lizalfos all dropLizalfos Tails. For example, a Silver Lizalfoswon’t drop a Silver Lizalfos Tail. Although all Lizalfos have tails, there’s a chance theywon’tdrop a Lizalfos Tail upon defeat. Instead, they may drop a Lizalfos Horn or Lizalfos Talon. There isn’t a way to increase the drop rate of a Lizalfos Tail, so Link will just need to defeat as many as he needs.

Where to Find Electric Lizalfos
Players looking forYellow Lizalfos Tailswill need to hunt downElectric Lizalfos. These shocking reptiles can be dangerous when fighting up-close thanks to their ability to generate electricity. If Link’s not careful, he can get caught up in one of their electric domes. This will cause him to drop any weapon he’s holding (excluding the Master Sword).
Electric Lizalfos live south of Hyruleprimarily in theGerudo Wastelandand theFaron Region. Look along the path betweenGerudo TownandKara Kara Bazaarfor Electric Lizalfos. The Electric Lizalfos in Faron Region can be found near theSpring of Courage.

When fighting Electric Lizalfos, shoot an arrow (from a distance) at its horn.

An Ice-Breath Lizalfos will drop anIcy Lizalfos Tail. Unlike Electric Lizalfos, this type of Lizalfos can fire ice bombs at Link. If struck, Link will be encased in ice. When confronting these frigid beasts, wear armor that has the Unfreezable bonus, such as Zant’s Helmet (DLC only) ora level-2 Snowquill Set.
Use fire-weapons (ex: Flamespear or Fire Arrows) to instantly defeat an Ice-Breath Lizalfos. This will cause them to literally disintegrate and allow Link to reap the rewards.
Blue Lizalfos and Ice-Breath Lizalfos arenotthe same. A Blue Lizalfos won’t drop an Icy Lizalfos Tail.

The last of the bunch are theFire-Breath Lizalfos. As opposites to the Ice-Breath Lizalfos,Fire-Breath Lizalfos prefer hot climates. Players can find them in theEldin Regionof Hyrule, primarily north ofGoron City. The Fire-Breath Lizalfos dropRed Lizalfos Tails.
Fire-Breath Lizalfos can shoot flames from their mouth, making it impossible to hit them up-close. Link will have an easier time killing them by using Ice Arrows or a long-ranged ice-weapon like a Frostspear. Fortunately, a Fire-Breath Lizalfos can’t keep breathing flames for long, and it’ll eventually pause to take a breath. When it does so, that’s the perfect time to strike.
