Responding to a newDestiny 2thread, Bungie confirms that a fix for a long-standing bug impacting the Liar’s Handshake exotic is finally coming in season 22. As a live service title,Destiny 2is getting constant updates, both with updates as well as new content. In fact, just this week saw thearrival of the annual Solstice event, where players can head to the EAZ destination to take part in the Bonfire Bash activity, target farm specific loot, and complete challenges.

However, these constant updates can sometimes be a double-edged sword, as new bugs and exploits can occasionally find their way into the experience. Since launching all the way back in 2017, the game has had no shortage of bugs, many of which relate toDestiny 2’s unique Fusion Rifle known as Telesto. Bungie frequently releases hot fixes and bigger updates to address these issues, going as far as disabling items that are causing major issues. However, one bug associated with the Hunter exotic known as Liar’s Handshake has been a thorn in the side of players for well over a year at this point.

In a new thread on theDestiny 2subReddit, a user named AMM0D highlighted the fact that Liar’s Handshake does not activate its exotic perk Cross Counter if the Gathering Storm super is equipped instead of Arc Staff. Essentially, if a player takes damage from an enemy, Cross Counter activates and lets the player follow up with a powerful melee counterpunch that also heals. Unfortunately for Hunters, this bug has been present for well over a year, first being spotted during the Witch Queen’s Season of Plunder.

However, hope is now on the horizon. Responding to a different subReddit post about another long-standing bug associated with the Warlock’s Restoration duration, the official Destiny2Team account not only confirmed that fixes are on the way for Child of the Old Gods and the Celestial Fire melee, but an update is planned for Liar’s Handshake starting withDestiny 2Season 22. The news did please many in the comments, with many assuming the fix is likely complex as the main reason for the delay.

The update likely came as a surprise to many on Reddit as earlier this week,Bungie reiterated that it has continued to pull back on communication over social mediadue to continued efforts to keep their employees safe from harassment and threats. The stance isn’t new, as Bungie originally announced the effort last year, though things apparently haven’t changed enough to where the developer feels comfortable as a more recent Lightfall video had its comments disabled due to a rise in toxic and developer harassing replies were being left by some.

Destiny 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
