Just beforeCall of Duty: Warzone 2released, Infinity Ward announced that the originalWarzonelauncher would be shutting down for about a week in order for the team to ensure that the new game launches as smoothly as possible. On November 28, Caldera makes a triumphant return in its own standalone version of the game titledCall of Duty: Warzone Caldera. While it won’t have any of the bells and whistles added withWarzone 2, it may have one slight advantage over its successor.
For a free-to-play game, cosmetics can mean a lot. InFortnite, fans can tell a lot about a player from the skin they’re using, such as how long they’ve been playing the game. It’s a sign of experience, skill, and it’s a great way to reward loyal players for dropping hours into a free-to-play game, and even dropping real-world cash on a Battle Pass. Right now,Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera’s cosmeticsare looking a lot better thanWarzone 2’s.

Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera Has a Lot More Skins Than Warzone 2.0
Launching back in December 2021, fans have had plenty of time to get used to Caldera as aWarzonemap. While it may not be the favorite still, Caldera did bring a lot of unique and exciting skins to the game. Some of the most memorableWarzoneskins come from the vast range of crossovers it’s had with other popular movie and TV show properties. TheGodzilla vs Kongcosmetic setis probably one of the most iconic, with players being able to unlock some prehistoric, bone-themed weapon skins, and some scaly Godzilla-like operator outfits. AnAttack on Titancrossover also came out during Caldera’s first few months, adding Captain Levi and the Armored Titan to the game, along with some other themed cosmetics.
On top of theseWarzone Pacificcrossover skins,Call of Duty: Warzone Calderawill include all of Verdansk’s cosmetics as well. Encompassing bothCall of Duty: Modern WarfareandBlack Ops Cold War’s skins,Warzone Calderaboasts some truly beloved cosmetics.Donnie Darko’s Frank,Saw’s Jigsaw,Die Hard’s John McClane, and Rambo himself, there are a lot of very memorable skins inWarzone’s history, andCall of Duty: Warzone Calderawill be a home for them all.
On the other side of things,Call of Duty: Warzone 2doesn’t have all too many memorable skins right now. All hailing fromCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer mode, there are definitely plenty of operator skins for players to choose from, but they do lack some variety. While there are a few characters that stand out, like Nova, Reyes, Horangi, and the PlayStation-exclusive skin Oni, far too many ofWarzone 2’s operators look like the same generic man in bulky armor. For those withModern Warfare 2’s Vault Edition, the addition of iconic characters like Farah and Ghost make this selection a little better, but it’s still nowhere near as expansive asWarzone Caldera’s offerings.
That being said,Warzone 2is still only in its first week of release, so it shouldn’t be expected to have a million unique skins right out of the gate. Much like the first game, it’ll probably take a few seasons beforeCall of Duty: Warzone 2.0has really hit its stride, both in terms of balancing and additional content like skins. Fans hoping for more cosmetics inWarzone 2just need to be a little patient.
