With over 30 primary weapons available on launch,Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2offers one of the biggest arsenals in franchise history. Rather surprisingly,Modern Warfare 2’s current line-up of weaponry is fairly balanced, with each weapon being lethal when used in the right hands. That being said, some ofModern Warfare 2’s gunsneed a little work before they’re completely combat-ready, and the FTAC Recon is one such weapon.

Available once the player has leveled upModern Warfare 2’s M4 assault rifleto level 13, the FTAC Recon is likely one of the first battle rifles the player will unlock, and with a bit of work, it can easily be one of the best in the entire game. While its standard variation can still be deadly, with the right attachments equipped, the FTAC Recon becomes a real threat, capable of dropping targets in just a shot or two.

The Best Modern Warfare 2 FTAC Recon Attachments and Builds

InpreviousCall of Dutytitles, players simply need to use a weapon repeatedly to unlock all of its attachments. InCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, however, it’s a little more complicated. To unlock all of a weapon’s attachments, players first need to reach max level on the weapon, and then continue to use other weapons that use the same Platform. For instance, to unlock all the FTAC Recon’s attachments, players need to max-out the M4, the FSS Hurricane, the 556 Icarus, and the M16.

With the FTAC Recon already requiring players tolevel up the M4quite a bit, players will already have a decent selection of attachments to equip fairly early on. Finding the right combination for the job, however, can be a little tricky. The best starting build for the FTAC Recon, using only the attachments gained by leveling it fully, begins with the 419MM EXF Barrel. Offering increased damage range, hip fire accuracy, and bullet velocity, this extended barrel may take longer to aim with, but the increased firepower is more than worth it.

The FTAC Dreadnought muzzle then provides even more bullet velocity, along with some recoil smoothness and sound suppression. The OP-X9 Foregrip works across the board, increasing steadiness and hip fire control, and accuracy. The Support CP90 Grip gives the weapon flinch resistance and aiming stability. And the Assault-60 Stock Factory brings the ADS speed back to a normal amount while increasing sprint, walking, and crouch speed.

While thisCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2starting class makes players a force to be reckoned with from all distances, the FTAC Recon is best used at medium to long range. The best medium to long-range FTAC Recon class differs quite a bit from the starting class, and requires a lot of attachments from the rest of the weapons on the M4 platform. For instance, the VX Pineapple grip, unlocked by getting the 556 Icarus to level 14, is the best available, offering increased hip fire accuracy and recoil control while also increasing recoil steadiness and aim walking steadiness, assuring that each and every hit will land.

The best medium to long-range class for theFTAC Recon also uses the Bruen Agent 90 muzzle, which is simply a stat upgrade of the FTAC Dreadnought with a damage range increase thrown on top. The rear grip and stock can stay the same, though long-range players may want to swap the Assault-60 for the Demo Precision Elite Factory, as that offers more recoil stability. The OP-X9 foregrip can also stay, but players may want to swap out these attachments for an optic sight. For longer-range players, any of the scoped optics will do the trick, while medium-range players may want to use a hybrid sight so that they can be ready for any situation.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
