These custom classes range from unique twists on classic archetypes, like the Plague Doctor or the Highwayman, toentirely new concepts, such as the Assassin or the Lamia. Each class comes with its own set of abilities, quirks, and lore, and many mods even include custom artwork and their own set of trinkets.
10The Ringmaster
The Ringmaster class mod makes theorganizer of the Butcher’s Circusa playable character. The vicious and powerful leader of the arena is a great addition to any team, being able to give unique buffs to her allies while dishing out powerful hits to enemies.
Her Trinket collection is interesting, in the way that they’re all a spin on the available PvP trinkets from the Butcher’s Circus, but adapted for solo PvE play. The artwork and new animations fit the game very well, along with her lore and abilities. Plus, it’s high time for the cruel organizer to have a taste of battle once again.

9The Riftwatcher
The Riftwatcher’s design was heavily inspired by the Abysswatchers fromDark Souls 3, and looks absolutely gorgeous, fitting very well into the theme ofDarkest Dungeon. It is a very mobile class with several movement abilities, even able to move his teammates into a safer position.
Riftwatcher is great at long runs, with several sustaining abilities. While not having the best defense, he compensates for it with stealth and mobility, being able to adapt to many situations. Overall, it’s a great class to experiment and play with.

8Revenant
The Revenant is a unique tanking character, whose abilitiesrevolve around the Bleed mechanic. He can deal a lot of damage with bleed while doing a good job of soaking up damage and giving himself and his allies protection. With some healing, he becomes a stellar frontline for a lot of team compositions.

It’s important to note that the mod also adds a new District that further boosts Bleed abilities for the entire roster, which pairs perfectly with theCrimson CourtDLC. The artwork and animations are clean and synergize very well with the game’s aesthetics.
7The Librarian
By lore, theLibrarian is a knowledgeable researcher, who joins the quest to battle the corruption by mistake and would much rather spend her time continuing her studies. She is a support character, excelling at buffing her party’s damage and having a lot of tools to deal with stress and damage.
Her unique mechanic comes in the form of her buff, which increases the XP gained for the rest of the quest, or until a camp. This can be incredibly useful when players need to quickly level up a party, and prepare more heroes for the horrors of the dungeons.

6Cataphract
Cataphract is a class thattakes a lot after the Crusader, sharing a similar idea behind it. Being able to do decent damage, while moving back and forth between the backline and the frontline, Cataphract can also provide great healing for the party.
She is a very versatile ally that can supplement a lot of parties, with great camping skills and trinkets. The art style is fantastic, with beautiful animations for her skills, especially the ethereal mount she summons when dashing to the front.

5Dragonslayer Knight
The Dragonslayer is a powerful and nimble warrior, prepared to take on the toughest enemies. Much like the legendary Shieldbraker, he is very mobile and has several attacks that disregard protection, dealing devastating damage to armored tanks.

He is alsoverydifficult to hit, as most abilities give him additional Dodge, as he prepares his powerful lightning strikes to deal great damage and debuff his enemies. Lightning attacks do leave him a bit vulnerable as he loses the extra dodge buffs, but shredding pesky armored tanks is well worth it.
4The Veiled
This one is for the riskier players thatlike to push their luck to the limit. The Veiled’s abilities improve tremendously the lower HP he has. He is a great healer that can bring allies back from the brink of death but pays for it with his own blood.
Aside from rejuvenation, the Veiled is able to stun and effectively debuff his enemies, empowering his allies to finish the job. His most powerful skills unlock when he is on the brink of death, either healing the entire party or dealing devastating damage to the enemy.

3Monk
The monk brings thepower of the spirits and balanceto face the many challenges of the game. What sets him aside from most other characters is the combo system, where his abilities buff other skills, dealing more damage and adding unique effects if used in the correct sequence.
He also has access to healing skills, being able to help out in a pinch at the cost of his damage output and survivability. All in all, his very unique playstyle brings a very interesting dynamic to the game.

2Abysswalker
Dive into the dark and twisted world of the Abysswalker with this class mod. Inspired by the lore and boss fight ofDark Souls' Artorias, the Abysswalker is a dualistic character who can switch between pure and corrupted forms.

As he becomes more corrupted, his power increases, allowing him to deal more damage and gain bonuses in total darkness. His abilities range from elegant sword strikes to savage leaps, depending on which form he takes. The Abysswalker is a character that encourages one to play with high stress levels and dance between sanity and madness to unleash his full potential.
1Thrall
Over the years, Marvin Seo has created enough memorable characters that could warrant their own list. His work was appreciated by the Red Hook team enough to invite him to work on theColors of MadnessDLC. The Thrall is currently one of the most downloaded character mods on Steam and NexusMods.
The Thrall is an absolute powerhouse, being able to deal extremely high amounts of damage, and just as well absorb a lot of it. Aside from being very slow, he also comes with a very dangerous drawback, where if he accumulates 100 Stress, he goes straight into the Ferocious affliction. In it, he can frequently attack his allies with his fearsome power, quickly dispatching the entire party. In the end, he is a verypowerful but dangerous ally.
