Summary
Supermanis perhaps the most famous superhero of all time, and as the shining beacon of hope for DC Comics, it’s no surprise that he has plenty of friends. Everyone wants to beSuperman’s best friend, except for Lex Luthor that is. Whether it’s a citizen of Metropolis, a superhero from Earth, or even beyond the planet’s scope, Superman has made some great friendsover his decades at DC Comics.
There are few characters in DC Comics that Superman has not interacted with, and even fewer who do not respect him. Superman is a shining example of peace, justice, and the American way, and with his morals and attitude, he has some of the best friends a Kryptonian on Earth could ask for.

6Martian Manhunter
One of the more interesting friendships in DC Comics is Superman and Martian Manhunter. The duo often interact, as they are both integralmembers of the Justice League. However, Martian Manhunter and Superman’s bond comes from the fact that they are both aliens, and they know what it feels like not to fit in.
J’onn J’onzz comes from Mars, and integrating into human society has been hard for him due to the fact that he remembers his culture as a Martian well. J’onn’s powers make him a force for good, and with Superman as a friend, there’s no act more honorable than being a hero.

5Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman and Superman have a complicated relationship in the DC Universe. The two greatly respect each other, and they are both figureheads as part of the DC Trinity. Except, their friendship might be a little strange in canon, considering the New 52Superman and Wonder Woman were in a relationshipfor quite some time.
The two are extremely powerful, but Superman might not agree with Diana on many issues, especially since her New 52 era was more of a violent warrior with a sword. However, differences aside, Wonder Woman and Superman are extremely close.

4Supergirl
Of course, one of Superman’s best friends is his cousin, Kara Zor-El. Supergirl is the last daughter of Krypton, and the fact that not only a member of Krypton is alive, but his cousin, makes him all the happier to feel not so alone on Earth. Supergirl and Superman have a great relationship, and Superman has to help Supergirl adapt to humanity and train her strengths.
It would be great if DC put more focus on this cousin relationship in the comics.Superman does what he canto look out for Supergirl, and will always have a place for her to call home in Smallville and Metropolis. The two are the busiest heroes in the DC Universe due to their great power, but it would be nice to see their friendship more often.

3Krypto
Dogs are always known as man’s best friend, so it makes sense for a Kryptonian dog to be a Kryptonian man’s best friend.Krypto the Super Dog is a beloved canineof the DC Universe, and as Superman’s pet, they have a great relationship. Whether it’s playing frisbee in space with Green Lantern, or fighting Atlas together, Krypto and Superman have a loyal and inseparable bond.
Krypto’s continuity is a tad strange in the DC Universe but rest assured that Superman and Krypto will always be the best of buds, even if Krypto is notably absent from Superman comics from time to time. It still won’t stop this good boy from being around the Man of Steel.

2Jimmy Olsen
The Daily Planet photographer, Jimmy Olsen, is often referred to as Superman’s best friend. In most comics and spin-offs involving Jimmy Olsen, he is always mentioned with the tagline of Superman’s best pal or something similar. Jimmy is great, and the friendship between Jimmy and Superman goes all the way back to the Golden Age of DC Comics.Jimmy is as important to Superman as Lois Lane, and the trio is a Daily Planet force to be reckoned with.
Sometimes, Jimmy Olsen acts more like a kid brother to Superman, and since the character is often kept in the dark about Superman’s identity, it makes his relationship with both Clark Kent and Superman all the better for when they interact. Jimmy is a loyal friend to Clark and Superman, and even when he’s told by Superman about his secret identity, it does not break their friendship. Jimmy is a loyal friend and one who will always be courageous when the situation calls for it.

1Batman
The World’s Finest, Superman and Batman, are a force to be reckoned with. The duo are an inseparable team, and their opposites are what makes them attract. Superman is often seen as hopeful, and a light character with immense power who uses it for good. Meanwhile, Batman is seen as dark, brooding, anddistrustful of everyone. Their contrast of character helps to make them the best of friends, both in and out of costume.
Superman and Batman are always an iconic set of characters to team together. The duo have shared adventures in many different comic titles, and they will always be there for one another. More recently, Superman’s son, Jon Kent, and Batman’s son, Damian Wayne became great friends, which makes it even better for the friendship of the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel.
