AnyDead Spaceremake players that want to give their Plasma Cutter a serious boost should consider getting the Weighted Blades upgrade for it. TheDead Spaceremake from Motive Studio is a mostly faithful recreation of the originalDead Spacegame, and so it retains many of the core gameplay features that were present in the 2008 original.
One of the big features in both the originalDead Spacegame and the 2023 remake is the ability to upgrade one’s gear. Using nodes that protagonist Isaac Clarke can find strewn about theill-fated USG Ishimura,Dead Spaceremake players can significantly increase the capabilities of their arsenal. One of the best weapons to spend nodes on is the iconic Plasma Cutter, easily one of the most useful weapons in the entire game.

The Plasma Cutter in theDead Spaceremake is just as powerful as its 2008 original. There is an achievement/trophy for completing the game using only the Plasma Cuter, which is not too difficult, but it’s made even easier if players find the best upgrades. Besides upgrades that players purchase with nodes, there areadd-on upgrades players can get for the Plasma Cutteras well. One of these is the Weighted Blades melee upgrade, found in Chapter 8 of the game in the COMMS Maintenance locker room.
As seen in a video by Reddit user fallowplot, the Weighted Blades in theDead Spaceremake can be extremely overpowered. In the video, Isaac finds himself squaring off against a Brute, known to be one of thedeadlier necromorphs in theDead Spaceremake. However, with the Weighted Blades,Dead Spaceremake players can simply smack the Brute into submission. It doesn’t even have a chance to attack Isaac once before he successfully beats it to death.
Needless to say, this upgrade will make things a lot easier for anyone going for the achievement/trophy tobeat theDead Spaceremake using only the Plasma Cutter. Players could obtain the upgrade in their initial playthrough, and then have a super-powered Plasma Cutter for their New Game+ run.
Besides trying to beat the game with only the Plasma Cutter, there’s a lot moreDead Spaceremake players can do in their New Game+ run. TheDead Spaceremake has an alternate endingand new content for players to discover, which makes it even more exciting to go back through than the original game.
