Summary
Destiny 2has content for just about any difficulty level. There are Master raids and Grandmaster Nightfalls for those who enjoy a grueling endgame experience where enemies seem to be one step ahead at all times. For players who prefer a more casual time, seasonal activities and strikes are the way to go for PVE.

However, sometimes the game’s own difficulty settings just don’t provide enough ‘oomph’ for players, even as Bungie tweaked all activity difficulties with Lightfall’s release. This is where players might feel tempted to try out a few community-made challenges and low-man activities that bring the pressure back intoDestiny 2.
7Sunset Or Grey Weapons Only
This challenge is only possible for players who happen to have kept some of their starting gear, or any vaulted items from previous seasons and expansions. Players will know the items are weaker or sunset when DIM marks them with a grey icon at the top, and the game itself caps their power at a certain efficiency. This means they cannot be infused with a higher power item but can be used in activities where power doesn’t matter to their full capability.
Players looking to have a miserable time in patrol alone can equip any blue, green, or gray gear they might still have leftover in the vault and see how they feel. Suddenly, even some of the Dregs in the Cosmodrome pose a real threat.

6No Artifact Mods
A classic challenge that has been seen around theDestiny 2community has players completely reset their artifact and not claim any of the powerful seasonal mods. Given that the artifact often determines the seasonal meta, it’s a huge downgrade in power to simply not use any of the mods.

The best way to put non-artifact mod builds to the test is to bring them to dungeons or other endgame activities and see how far players can go.With the right Exoticsand regular armor mods, it’s still possible to have a surprisingly good time. As such, this is a good place for less experienced players to start experimenting with difficult challenges.
5Solo Endgame Content
Soloing content has been a favorite amongDestiny 2players for a while. Solo dungeons in particular have risen in popularity,as Bungie has made them a requirement in order to unlock Triumph sealsfor those dungeons.
Soloing a dungeon, or even a raid, takes a lot of planning and buildcrafting. It forces the player to think about every action they take in-game, which can be a stark contrast to how casual many ofDestiny 2’sactivities are these days. For true veteran players, solo dungeons and raids, as well as Grandmaster Nightfalls, are the ultimate go-to challenge.

4No Exotic Armor Or Weapons
Back to a slightly easier challenge, players who are used to always having at least one Exotic weapon and armor piece should spice things up and attempt some ofDestiny 2’sendgame content without either. Some players might consider this easy, as there are plenty ofDestiny 2fans who regularly choose fashion over function and reject the idea of wearing Exotic gear.
However, those who take buildcrafting seriously will have to rethink everything when denying themselves access to Exotics. Luckily, there are countless Legendary weapons that are almost as good as Exotics, and with the right subclass options and mods, as well as artifact mods, players can still have a relatively good time. Hence, beginner challengers should start here when looking for a slight difficulty tweak.

3Low Resilience Or No Damage Resistance Mods
Resilience is the bread and butter ofDestiny 2.Even after it was tweaked for Lightfallto not provide as much damage resistance at Tier 10, most serious players still focus on maxing out Resilience for all their builds—at least in PVE.

Letting go of this crutch is a huge and interesting challenge for any bored players. Lowering Resilience and even stripping away damage resistance mods will force most guardians to really think about their positioning and completely change the feel of even seasonal content.
2Low-Man Raids
Raids are some of the best contentDestiny 2has. Six-man raids, after a while, can be quite simple for a dedicated and prepared clan. In that case, attempting these raids as a three-man group, as a duo, or even solo, is a true challenge that takes a lot of skill and planning.
Many raid encounterscan be three-manned, but there are some that will require a bit of maneuvering and exploiting to get through. It forces each player to do the job of basically two players, which is a nice way to test how good one’s PVE skills are. Big bosses that require a ton of damage in raids are particularly tough to get through in a low-man, so having the right weapons and setups is key as well.

1Speedruns
Another daunting challenge is to simply speedrun through some ofDestiny 2’stoughest content. Thiscan be done solo in Legend/Master Lost Sectors, but players with friends or a dedicated clan can also attempt Grandmaster Nightfalls, raids, or dungeons to break those record times.
Speedruns often require players to use advanced mobility tech, so it’s the perfect time to learn how to Well Skate or make the most out of an Eager Edge sword. Depending on the class, the tech might be different as well, and once learned can help the player even through regular content.

Destiny 2is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
