One player offers a handy tip for players looking to avoid unnecessary damage during sections of Bungie’s newestDestiny 2dungeon. Following the start of Season of the Deep,Destiny 2added its newest dungeon a few days later, the first since the launch of Spire of the Watcher. In keeping with the underwater theme of the current season, Ghosts of the Deep brings back the Lucent Hive and its Lightbearing enemies to offer an activity that has plenty of lore implications as well as combat challenge.
One of the main draws of this dungeon is the arrival ofSavathun’s sister Xivu Arath. This is a major character that has been referenced and used for narrative purposes, but has never been featured to this degree. Many fans have already taken to the Hive God of War thanks in large part to the audio logs scattered around the dungeon. While most have praised the overall design of Ghost of the Deep, the experience isn’t perfect, though one player has found an interesting trick to help mitigate some unnecessary damage.

With plenty of enemy encounters to keepDestiny 2players busy, finding a way to prevent unnecessary damage can be a struggle, especially when activating Deepsight during certain sections. The short 2-3 second animation leaves players vulnerable to enemy fire, though one player named NanoSpectro has discovered a way to bypass the animation while also keeping momentum. To avoid losing forward momentum, NanoSpectro has discovered that sprinting towards the Deepsight and then jumping and turning around quickly while activating it not only works, but the player can continue to freely move and not get stopped by the animation sequence.
The community response to the trick has been very positive, with many indicating how helpful it will be. However, NanoSpectro does theorize that this trick may be easier to pull off with a mouse and keyboard due to the quick turn flick needed during activation, though others have said that a controller with back buttons like the more customizable Microsoft Elite Series orSony’s new DuialSense Edgecould work as well.
Destiny 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
