Even if Bungie’s storytelling was always a breath of fresh air when it comes to sci-fi games and other media, the evolution of the narrative fromDestinytoDestiny 2was phenomenal.Destiny 2’s story arcs became much more relevant and interesting than before over the past few years, and while vanillaDestiny 2’s Red War was not bad,Forsakenwas arguably miles ahead of it. In fact,Forsakenwas the expansion that madeDestiny 2have one of the most interesting 180s in the recent history of video games, and it cemented some characters and locations as very iconic.

Among them, one of the most compelling villains wasUldren Sov, who got his redemption through death and rebirth as Crow, the beloved Hunter introduced in Season of the Hunt. Of course, another protagonist ofForsaken’s story inDestiny 2was Cayde-6, even though he played a very small part in the narrative due to his premature death at the hands of the Awoken prince. Cayde left a huge void in the Tower and in the hearts of many Guardians, to the point that he is still remembered to this day.

A Twitter user by the name of _unknownstag shared a brief video on the platform, as a tribute toCayde’s memory and legacy inDestiny 2. The clip revolves around Amanda Holliday remembering something Cayde told her about the ones she lost, saying that death isn’t the end ever since the Traveler showed up, and she should just wait - maybe, those people will come back as Guardians. This shows just how much Cayde is missed among the characters in the game because he was a beacon of hope and positivity, making jokes at every turn, even in the direst of situations.

The clip shared by _unknownstag was recorded during a past event tied to theFestival of the Lostin 2018, post-Forsaken, which entailed going to a wintry version of the Cosmodrome for a quest. The mission would eventually award players with the first machine gun in the game, Thunderlord, but not without allowing them to pay homage to Cayde through a sequence of scannable objects.

Ever since Cayde’s death,Destiny 2’s Hunters haven’t been in a great spot, both story-wise and gameplay-wise, with a few notable exceptions. Still, changes to the game are being made with the 30th Anniversary Pack, andHunters shouldn’t be the patch notes losers, but rather get some love in the form of much-needed buffs in PvE.

Destiny 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
