Bungie released an extensive State of the Game blog post to detail the new content coming soon toDestiny 2, includingseveral PvP updates for Season 22and 23. Iron Banner will receive a new mode inDestiny 2Season 23 according to Bungie, but further details regarding the mode were not revealed. This new Iron Banner Mode will likely include rewards and returning weapons fromDestiny 2Season 22, however. Additionally, a new Hakke Aggressive Frame Strand Pulse Rifle will be available as a Competitive division weapon reward in Season 23.

Forsaken’s Citadel mapwill also make its return to Crucible playlists in Season 23 as part of Bungie’s “reprisal map efforts” forDestiny 2. Currently, the development team is undergoing the porting process for the Citadel map and hopes to relive “fond memories of dominating Control matches” in the Dreaming City during Season 23.

Although Bungie didn’t share specific details about the new Season 23 content, the future ofDestiny 2’sPvP modeslooks very promising so far. The Citadel and Multiplex maps bring much-needed variety to the current map rotation in the Crucible, and Season 23’s new Iron Banner mode might incentivize more players to try out PvP and seek out powerful limited-time rewards.

Bungie could bring more players into its PvP playlists by continuing to introduce new maps and content inThe Final Shapeand subsequent seasons.
