Diablo 4was announced more than a year ago back at BlizzCon 2019 and since then information has slowly been released by Blizzard over time. Eager fans are waiting for more news about changes to the game, the remaining playable classes, and probably most importantly, a release date. Like almost everything else in 2020, development has been hamstrung. But now that there will be new information soon, fans would do well to keep their expectations in check.
With theupcoming BlizzCon 2020 digital conferenceset for February 19th and 20th this year. Many eager fans are looking forward to new information aboutDiablo 4. But given the state of where the game may be in development, less information than what fans might hope for could be offered up at the conference. This isn’t necessarily bad news, but Blizzard is known to keep its cards close to its chest when it comes to pre-release details.

At the upcoming BlizzCon 2021,Diablo 4fans expecta lot more information to be revealed. There are many pieces of information that hungry fans are hoping for but may need to temper expectations. So far Blizzard has only revealed three playable classes: the druid, barbarian, and sorcerer. Rumors about what other classes will be included have been rampant especially given to how quiet Blizzard has been in general about specifics forDiablo 4. While many still wonder whether the new game will feature new classes, as did every previousDiablotitle, or if it will be reworking some of the older classes. Players will likely have a lot of their interest in the next game tied to what classes they can play, but it wouldn’t be too surprising to see Blizzard focus on aspects other than releasing a new class based on whether or not the classes are up to snuff in the eyes of the publisher.
Details about multiplayer have been revealed in information dumps like the last official update in December of last year. More than a few players were glad to see the inclusion of local co-op inDiablo 4, afeature for the console versionofD3that was very popular among fans. Blizzard has since stated that players on the same machine will have their own UIs, which is great news considering how a shared menu system could bog down local play, especially with more than two players. Blizzard had stated that its goal was to include cross-play inDiablo 4, which would be important for a game set for simultaneous PC and console release. However, more information has yet to be revealed in that vein, but it’s a realistic thing to expect an update at BlizzCon 2021.
The most likely thing to be revealed at BlizzCon 2021 will be more information about game mechanics like skills and the inventory. Blizzard has already confirmed some changes to the way RNG will apply toLegendary and Unique gear affixes, and players can expect more information along those lines. It’s also likely that Blizzard will expand more on the stat and abilities systems in the games to further show off the shift in gameplay styles fromDiablo 3.
The biggest thing that fans should keep in mind is that BlizzCon 2021 will likely feature information on twoDiablogames and not justDiablo 4.With its plannedDiablo Immortalmobile game around the corner, it would seem likely that Blizzard will dedicate a chunk of its time to releasing more information about the mobile title.
