Summary
Diablo 4players are perplexed by Blizzard’s decision to have players unlock Waypoints all over again and are calling for changes. The community has already expressed disappointment with theSeason 1 update forDiablo 4and is now calling out this change as it doesn’t make sense to the players.
Waypoints inDiablo 4allow players to fast travel to different locations across the map. When the game initially launched, players had to explore the entire map to unlock locations, which also revealed Waypoints to be activated. While many of them can be found during world exploration, some are also locked inStrongholds inDiablo 4and won’t appear unless players conquer that area. The campaign enables players to unlock a few major ones, but most of them still have to be unlocked by manually going there. However, when Season 1 launched, most of the Waypoints were locked again even if players had unlocked them before, which is something the community isn’t happy with.

In a post on theDiablo 4subreddit, user potionmine wrote how they don’t understand why players have to go around the map every few months to unlock Waypoints they have already activated. They questioned Blizzard’s thought process behind this decision and wondered if it would’ve made sense if players had to re-run the campaign every few months. However, most of the players seemed to agree with them on this and were equally baffled by this change.
Along with having to unlock Waypoints, players also have to conquer all the Strongholds again to obtainRenown points inDiablo 4that unlock rewards offering Skill Points and XP. Thankfully, players who had completed strongholds earlier didn’t have to do them all over again to get access to the Dungeons that the area had. However, the players still don’t understand why Blizzard would do this and called for this to be changed to something that actually makes sense and is more rewarding than just giving Renown points.
This isn’t the only problem that players have with Season of the Malignant as a majority of the community was upset with all characters being nerfed inDiablo 4. Reduced XP gains, increased monster health scaling and difficulty, and secret nerfs to players’ existing items were some of the reasonsDiablo 4was being review bombed again. Consequently, Blizzard had to host an emergency Campfire Chat to assure the fans that they were taking the feedback seriously and would be making changes in the near future.
Diablo 4is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
