Summary
Diablo 4now has pets, but the new feature is breaking the builds of some Necromancer players. One of the most anticipated features forDiablo 4players, pets are finally available in the game. Together with these allies,Diablo 4players can have an even more fun and dynamic experience, as they help collect resources obtained along the journey through Sanctuary.
One of the most noticeable aspects ofDiablo 4’s release was the absence of pets, apopularDiablo 3feature. With the release of patch 1.4.2, Blizzard has finally rectified this absence a year after the release ofDiablo 4, bringing pets to the latest entry in the franchise. While there are three pets that players can obtain by pre-ordering the Vessel of Hatred expansion, oneDiablo 4pet is already available, and players can claim it for free. But with the arrival of this anticipated feature, someDiablo 4players are experiencing some gameplay problems.

The arrivalof Diablo 4’s pets is unintentionally breaking Necromancer running non-minion builds. As noted inDiablo 4YouTuber Seroc Ifkre’s video, since pets count as minions, they interact with Glyphs like Sacrificial and Stand Alone. Because of this, when the pet is active, Sacrificial deals less damage, and Stand Alone’s passive loses some of its damage reduction. In addition to messing up theParagon Board forDiablo 4players, pets interact with other effects that depend on there being no minions around to work.
How the Pet Bug is a Problem for Diablo 4 Necromancers
The Necromancer is aDiablo 4classwith two overarching builds, one focused on minions and the other on non-minions. That is the portion of the Necro mains specifically affected by the bug, since theseDiablo 4players sacrifice the use of minions to get an extra power boost. For Necromancer players who run minion-focused builds, the interaction works as a sort of buff. Thus, it creates situations like an additional Blood Surge explosion forDiablo 4players with the Deathspeaker’s Pendant, for example.
On Twitter, thecommunity manager Adam Fletcher confirmedthat Blizzard has a fix prepared for the bug caused byDiablo 4pets. Fletcher didn’t give an exact date of when the update would be released but explained that this interaction was unintentional. Until then,Diablo 4players with Necros using non-minion builds may opt for other classes or builds, so as not to have problems with power losses caused by the pets' bugged interaction.
