Summary
Disney Dreamlight Valleyhas released gameplay footage ofThe Nightmare Before Christmas' Jack Skellington. WithDisney Dreamlight Valleysoon leaving Early Access, fans are expecting more support from the developers than ever. Not that the game has been short of providing updates, patches, and new content, as it has brought in many additions since its initial launch in 2022. The introduction and debuts of new characters will continue even as the title jumps to a different model.
Gameloft recently announcedDisney Dreamlight Valley’s first paid expansion, A Rift in Time, as well as the free content roadmap for 2024. While reading the word “paid” might worry some players, the roadmap up to 2024 has ensured that the game will still offer updates to regular users who won’t purchase DLC. Even if the paid expansion does seem fully realized, as it includes three story arcs, among others, the free updates are still something gamers would be excited for, especially since the free content includes beloved characters such as Jack Skellington.

Disney Dreamlight Valley’s short video teaser for Jack Skellington on Twitter shows Jack interacting with the player character. Skellington then proceeds to show off several of his mannerisms and expressions that highlight how much the developers took the time to ensure accuracy. Per the tweet, the game will introduce the King of the Pumpkin Patch on December 5, which is also the same day the game leaves Early Access.
While Jack Skellington’s announcement and preview have received a positive reception, there are still quite a lot of characters from the same franchise that the game can introduce to garner more fanfare. OneDisney Dreamlight Valleyplayer showed their fandom for Sally, Jack’s love interest, as they customized their dress to match the character’s attire. A lot of faces from the Halloween / Christmas movie could add flavor to the title, should Gameloft consider giving more.
As it is, Disney’s collection of characters and universes has allowed such a diverse selection and can open up so many possibilities. If the developers decide to follow theKingdom Heartsroute, then that list grows even longer. Some live-action IPs could work well inDisney Dreamlight Valleyif the developer considers more untapped properties. Digging even deeper, a lot of obscure characters and universes could make their return to the limelight, should Gameloft find the right moment to introduce them. Hopefully, the move out of Early Access will help the developers get more creative when introducing new content. However, Jack Skellington being the first addition, in what feels like a timely choice, seems to be a step in the right direction.
