Dungeons and Dragonshas evolved over the years, becoming one of the most played tabletop games. WithDungeons and Dragons' rise in popularity came a large swath of creativity and inspiration to make each night just a little more special; painting miniature enemies and allies, bringing a wide assortment of dice, and making those dice look incredible during play. One uniquely talented fan made their dice much different than the common D20.

To decide almost every action in this game, players roll a D20, a 20-sided die, to decide how well they perform an action in this fantasy environment.Dungeons and Dragons4e and 5eutilize D20s to decide a large majority of the gameplay, and one fan has now made their D20 much more magical than the usual.

With a larger majority of theDungeons and Dragonscommunity lining up to purchase dice of alternative colors or even made of metal, this fan, DMMJaco, took an extra step and fully equipped their D20 with a strobe light. Calling it the “Rave 20,” whenever this die is thrown it repeatedly strobes an orange and blue upon reaching its destination. While some players attempt to make their D20 appear to align with theirDungeons and Dragonsclass, a strobe light die is largely unexpected.
D20s are the heart and core ofDungeons and Dragons, and with the most recent expansion toMagic: The Gathering Adventures in the Forgotten Realms, there are even more ways to currently use a D20 during tabletop gaming. In the majority of cases tabletop gaming stores carry a wide variety of colorful dice, featuring everything from D20s to D4s, but dice with lights inside them are extremely rare, especially ones that strobe.
WithDungeons and Dragon’s widespread success, many tabletop games are adopting its many features including its unique usage of the D20. With this in mind,many tabletop games likeDungeons and Dragonswill continue to give players the opportunity to further flex their especially styled dice. Metal dice are satisfying throughout the community but tend to have higher prices and can cause dents in some playing spaces. Strobe light dice though tend to be about half the price of metal ones, and still bring a unique gadget to the tabletop gaming night.
