Updated July 15, 2025, by Christopher Norman Worcester: As players prepare head back to the Lands Between with Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree, more and more are returning to the base game to refresh their memories and get that roll-dodge muscle memory back. Because of this, we will be updating our most popular guides to include videos. This update focuses on collecting the Flamberge Greatsword from Redmane Castle.
Elden Ringhas expanded the classic FromSoftware Soulslike formula with a sprawling open world, offering players all kinds of rewards for curiosity and exploration. The Lands Between are littered with crumbling castles, deadly bosses, and powerful loot. As a result,Elden Ringoffers a huge arsenal of weaponry for players to find, and even the most basic sword can be improved with Ashes of War and Smithing Stones.

Bleed builds are some of thestrongest builds inElden Ringright now, and there are a couple of weapons of each type that are perfect for stacking blood loss. One of the best Bleed Greatswords is theFlamberge, a long, undulating blade with a high capacity for blood loss.

Where To Find the Flamberge in Elden Ring
Players looking to create aperfectElden RingBleed buildwith theFlambergewill need to make their way toCaelid, the Scarlet Rot-infested region in the southeast corner of the Lands Between.
The Flamberge once belonged to Witch-HunterJerren, an NPC who inhabitsRedmane Castle, and can be found in the same location. Fortunately, players won’t need to defeat Jerren to gain the sword, though it will only be available if theGeneral Radahn-slaying festivalthat Jerren hosts hasn’t begun or is finished.

Onceplayers have defeated Radahn, or before they enter the festival area, they canfind the Flamberge on the southeast rampart. This area is accessible byclimbing the stairs to the east of the teleporter entry point, thenentering the tower and taking the ladder up.The Flamberge can be found on a dead body, guarded by a Pumpkin-Head enemy.
Elden Ring Flamberge Breakdown
The Flamberge is the perfect early choice for players that are focusing on Bleed and also like the weight and damage of a greatsword. Its location makes it quite easy to find in the early-to-mid game, allowing players to get a head start on theiridealElden Ringbuild.
As a normal-type weapon, the Flamberge can be infused withElden Ring’s Ashes of Warabilities, changing its damage, scaling, and unique power.

One of thebest choices for the Flamberge is the Blood infusion, which will add almost twice as much blood loss buildup to each swing.
