After a long time of relative radio silence, a new trailer has dropped forNew Pokemon Snap. This trailer reveals the game’s release date to be April 30th, 2021, with pre-orders opening up alongside it.
While the trailer shows off more of the environments planned to appear inNew Pokemon Snap, astute viewers may have also noticed the presence of even more Pokemon compared to the initial trailer. This means that even more Pokemon will likely be in the game for players to discover on their own.

In the initial trailer back in 2020, 36 different Pokemon were shown and confirmed to be in the game. This new trailer, however, bumps the number of confirmed Pokemon to 71, making the trailer already have more Pokemon thanthe originalPokemon Snap, which had 63 Pokemon.

Confirmed Kanto Pokemon
With the originalPokemon Snapbeing part of Pokemon’s first generation, only Kanto Pokemon were available to be photographed in-game.New Pokemon Snap,however, has access to eight different generations of Pokemon and their surrounding lore to implement with how the Pokemon interact with the environment. With how important these original Pokemon are, they definitely have their place within this new title.

Of course, more Pokemon than what are confirmed via the trailers will likely be appearing in the full game. This especially goes for Pokemon that are part of evolutionary lines, as getting Pokemon to evolve on camera was a mechanic in the originalPokemon Snap.
Confirmed Johto Pokemon
The Johto region is often as well loved as the Kanto region with its popular pre-evolutions and evolutions of existing Pokemon. The region is also filled with memorable characters and mechanics that make it very popular among Pokemon fans of every age.
So far, the Johto Pokemon that are confirmed to make an appearance inNew Pokemon Snapare:

Like with the Kanto Pokemon, many more Pokemon fromthe Johto regionare likely to appear in the full game proper. With the appearance of Meganium in the recent trailer seeming to be a special encounter of some kind, it is very possible that players will get to see the Chikorita line evolve into the shown Pokemon.
Confirmed Hoenn Pokemon
The Hoenn region is filled with plenty of tropical and photogenic Pokemon that will be perfect for players going on a photographic safari. Many of these Pokemon have already been shown in the trailers, with many of thewater-typesfrom the region appearing in the shown seaside stage.

Fans of the Hoenn region will likely get a lot to look at with these Pokemon inNew Pokemon Snap. With the Hoenn region being more of an ocean-based region even before Alola was conceived, many Pokemon from this region will be able to be observed in their natural habitat without any trainer battles interrupting them.

Confirmed Sinnoh Pokemon
Many fans of the Sinnoh region are currently waiting forremakes ofPokemon DiamondandPokemon Pearl. While the status of those games remain unknown to the public as of January 2021, Sinnoh fans will be able to see representatives of their favorite region inNew Pokemon Snap.

For many Sinnoh fans, some of the Pokemon shown in theNew Pokemon Snaptrailers will be having their first proper 3D appearance on the Nintendo Switch with this game. This is due to Pokemon such as Torterra and Bidoof not being available by any means inPokemon SwordandPokemon Shield.
Confirmed Unova Pokemon
The Unova region is known for its highly praised stories inPokemon Black,Pokemon White,Pokemon Black 2, andPokemon White 2. While the designs of the Pokemon native to this region remain divisive among Pokemon fans, there are plenty of fan favorite Pokemon that remain popular with fans.
With the two trailers that have currently been released, the confirmed Pokemon from the Unova region appearing inNew Pokemon Snapare:

An interesting observation in the new trailer is the appearance of Deerling and Sawsbuck. With the main gimmick of these Pokemon being that they change forms depending on the season, it could be possible for these seasonal changes to be seen by players inNew Pokemon Snap. This could be used with real world seasons or different Deerling and Sawsbuck forms appearing in different climate appropriate levels.
Confirmed Kalos Pokemon
The Kalos region has gotten recent attention from Pokemon fans between its recent implementation inPokemon GOand rumors of it appearing asDLC inPokemon SwordandPokemon Shield. The Pokemon from this region will be getting a little more attention with a few of the Kalos Pokemon appearing in theNew Pokemon Snaptrailers.
Compared to the other regions, there doesn’t seem to be as much representation for Kalos, but the Pokemon that have been shown so far are:

Confirmed Alola Pokemon
Many were hopeful for a newPokemon Snapback when the Alola region was released thanks toPokemon SunandPokemon Moon’s wild Pokemon picture taking mechanic. While a lot of time has passed since the release of those games, players will be able to take pictures of Alolan-based Pokemon inNew Pokemon Snap.

Confirmed Galar Pokemon
With the Galar region being the newest main region in the Pokemon games, it is a definite that the Pokemon fromPokemon Sword and Shieldwill be appearing in some capacity inNew Pokemon Snap. Like the Kalos region, there haven’t been manyGalar Pokemonshown in the trailers so far, but it is very likely that more will be appearing in the full game.
