The Evil Withindeveloper Tango Gameworks appeared at the Xbox and Bethesda Developer Direct to officially announcedHi-Fi Rush, a new rhythm action game that will be available to play later today.Hi-Fi Rushleaked ahead of its official announcement, but even so, few expected the game to actually be surprise-launched on the very same day that it was announced to the world.
Most of the games shown during theXbox and Bethesda Developer Directwill be launching in the first half of 2023. Games likeMinecraft Legendsgot release dates, while fans also got a fresh look at the newForza Motorsport. Developers sometimes use these events to surprise-launch new games, but it’s rare, especially for a game from a studio like Tango Gameworks.

As seen in the launch trailer, that also doubles as the game’s announcement trailer,Hi-Fi Rushis quite different from Tango’s usual games. Whereas Tango Gameworks is known for grittyhorror games likeThe Evil Within,Hi-Fi Rushis an action game with an anime-inspired art style. It looks to feature action gameplay not unlike games likeBayonettaorDevil May Cry, but with a music/rhythm twist where players are rewarded for attacking in beat with the game’s music.
Hi-Fi Rushstages feature plenty of action-packed encounters with small-scale enemies and platforming challenges, culminating in over-the-top boss battles. Fans of extreme action games like the aforementionedDevil May CryandBayonettamay find a lot to like withHi-Fi Rush, though the game’s art style and characters may prove to be divisive. Ultimately, anyone curious can try the game through theirXbox Game Pass subscription, so they can check it out without paying full price.
WithHi-Fi Rushsurprise-launched, there are no reviews to let fans know if the game will be worth checking out or not. That shouldn’t matter quite as much since it’s available to play on Xbox Game Pass, though. It was stated during the Xbox and Bethesda Developer Direct thatHi-Fi rushwould be available some odd hours after the event wrapped up, but a specific release time was not announced.
