Bethesda is venturing into new territory withStarfield, the studio’s first original IP in decades. But while many fans are looking forward toStarfieldand its massive game world, others would like to see new entries in Bethesda’s established franchises, particularlyThe Elder ScrollsandFallout. It seems there will be a lot forElder ScrollsandFalloutfans to look forward to in the years ahead, as Bethesda has confirmedFallout 5.

Bethesda’s Todd Howard was recently interviewed by IGN aboutStarfield. During the interview, Howard confirmed that Bethesda is going to makeFallout 5after it’s done withThe Elder Scrolls 6. “Elder Scrolls 6is in pre-production and, you know, we’re going to be doingFallout 5after that,” Howard said in the interview. Howard also said that Bethesda has “other projects” that it will be working on as well, though it’s unclear what those projects may be.

This isn’t the first time thatTodd Howard has mentionedFallout 5, but it’s the first time that he’s given fans an idea of when the game will be made. WithStarfieldlaunching in 2023, one has to imagineElder Scrolls 6will release a few years after that, and so it seems thatFallout 5won’t be out until near the end of the decade at the current rate. Even so, fans may still be excited to know for sure thatFallout 5is on the way.

Falloutfans may be waiting quite a while to playFallout 5, but hopefullyStarfieldis good enough to help tide them over in the meantime. They may also have a differentFalloutproject to play in the interim as well. It hasn’t been announced in an official capacity, but rumor has it that Microsoft may be looking tomove forward with aFallout: New Vegassequel, once again putting Obsidian Entertainment at the helm.

It remains to be seen if there’s any legitimacy to theFallout: New Vegas 2rumors, but fans can count onFallout 5coming at some point afterStarfieldandThe Elder Scrolls 6have hit store shelves. Whenever the game comes out, it’s likely going to be console exclusive to Xbox consoles, so fans should keep that in mind. After all, part of the reason why Microsoft acquired Bethesda was to secure exclusive games for Xbox consoles and Game Pass, so there’s no reason to thinkFallout 5will be any different in that regard.
