Far Cry 6is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated games of 2021.Releasing in February, players won’t have to wait too long into next year to get their hands on the new sequel, and now Ubisoft has cleared up the confusion around the game’s 4K capabilities.
Far Cry 6, as always, presents an entirely new world for players to explore, this time beingthe island of Yara. The island is heavily inspired by real-life Cuba and features environments ranging from jungles to urban cities, providing plenty of opportunity for stunning visuals.Far Cry 5previously supported 4K resolution on PC and newer consoles such as the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, but with a new generation of hardware coming forFar Cry 6, players are wondering how it will adapt.

In the first trailer forFar Cry 6fans spotted some interesting footnotes at the end of the video saying that 4K Ultra HD will be available on Xbox One X and Xbox Series X only, and that HDR will be possible on Xbox One S and newer consoles only. This lead to confusion from PlayStation players as to whether their consoles would be 4K compatible withFar Cry 6. Ubisoft has since issued a response to say “Far Cry 6will be available in 4K on the PS5, Ps4 Pro and PC. Further details will be available at a later date.”
This is reassuring for PlayStation fans that the current PS4 and next-generation PS5 will be able to handle thehighest tier visuals forFar Cry 6. Why Ubisoft excluded PlayStation consoles from the notes in the trailer is uncertain, but the studio has been quick to clear up the uncertainty now that fans have pointed it out.
Some high-quality screenshots for Far Cry 6 have been released, and it already looks like players will want to take advantage of the visuals in the game. The story trailer has also shown some excellent motion capture of the actors, includingGiancarlo Esposito as the villain Anton Castillo, with the rendering making them appear incredibly lifelike.
4K capabilities will only work to enhance the impressive world that Ubisoft is building with Far Cry 6. As well as a whole new landscape players will have access to a range of new features and characters, such as a companion sausage dog named Chorizo and the ability tosee aFar Cryprotagonist in third personduring cutscenes. However, until official gameplay is released it’s difficult to tell whether the visuals forFar Cry 6will stack up to those of other next-gen games.
Far Cry 6will be released on July 08, 2025 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
