While theFinal Fantasy 7 Remakehas some new and exciting materia, and players are looking to grab as many as they can. Unfortunately for them, some of the essential materia like theDeadly Dodge Materiaare very easy to miss.
Materia
Materia are small, round glowing balls that add spells, skills, or abilities to weapons. Weapons usually have at least a few slots for different kinds of materia, with specialized slots for Summon materia that summon a helper fighter to a battle. Some of theFinal Fantasy 7 Remakemateria can make or break some boss battles for players, so getting as many as possible is a great way to help get through the game.

HP Up
There is one purple materia in Chapter 2 out ofthe total 18 chaptersthat’s being guarded by some soldiers on the streets of Midgar. Although it’s tempting to fight them and grab it, there’s no way to get it before the cut scene showing the Shinra Security Officers. Once that scene plays out, the materia will be unguarded, so make sure to double back and grab it. This will be the HP Up materia dramatically increases the amount of total HP a character has, so it’s a great addition to the team.
Auto Cure
Taking a lot of damage in battles? Auto-cure is a materia that will cast Cure to keep that linchpin character alive up to three times per encounter. To grab it, players will have to do some work forChadley, the kid looking for battle scans. He’ll sell Cloud the Auto Cure materia at a discount if he completes analysis of two different type of enemies with the Battle Intel materia.
Chadley will also sell players other hard-to-find materia, including ATB Boost, Deadly Dodge, First Strike, Summon Shiva, Summon Fat Chocobo, and maybe even some othersummons that are still missing from the gamethat will be in future chapters.

Cleansing Materia
Players can use Cleansing Materia to get rid of poison status effects on characters, saving boatloads of money on antidotes. Eventually, once the materia has gained enough AP, it will also be able to cast a spell that removes all status effects on a character, called Esuna. Players can buy this handy materia during Chapter 3 from the Item Store owner when Cloud and the beautiful, cosplayable Tifatake care of his Rat Problem. Handle the Doom Rats, then the materia will be up for purchase.
Ice
This materia is so easy to miss. Don’t forget that theFinal Fantasy 7 Remakeis an JRPG, and that means checking every nook and cranny for resources. The Ice materia is in Chapter 3 in the Sector 7 Slums. There is a cave right past the gate to the Residential area, and players can grab it for free right off of the cave floor.

The Church Materia
TheChurch materiais the yellow materia that is so tantalizingly close in the Church Escape scene of Chapter 8. Although players can’t grab it then, they will be able to return to the church as soon as the world opens up for more side missions.
Revive
The Revive materia is certainly the most useful. It can bring players back from being knocked out without the use of a phoenix down, which is great money saver. This materia is hidden in Chapter 4 after the boss battle. Go back to the Sector 7 Plate Edge, but before turning right, there will be a materia on the ground before the walkway.
Luck Up Materia
Unfortunately for gamers that hate mini games, this materia is hidden behind the Leaderboard for Darts. So players should work to get really good atthrowing darts at Seventh Heaven if they want a little extra luck. Luck brings a rise in rare drops, more money, and is worth every second players spend playing darts.
As soon as Cloud hits number one on the Leaderboard, players will earn the Luck Up Materia.
Magnify
One of thebest materiain this list is Magnify. This materia is super easy to miss; players will have to find it during the robot hand mini game during Chapter 9. It’s hidden behind the first container on the right; move it so that another character and run and grab it. Once players have it, they will be able to use spells on multiple targets.
Chocobo and Moogle Summons
If players didn’t preorderFinal Fantasy 7Remakeand didn’t get theChocobo Chick summonor one of the other preorder summons, the first summon players can get is in Chapter 4, then another in Chapter 6. The Chocobo and Moogle Summon in Chapter 6 is super easy to miss, however, and some players are wondering how to get it. It’s hidden behind some ventilation fans and can’t immediately be reached.
Players will first need to power down two of the three sunlamps, then take the gondola back to the vents. Now the area will be available, so kill all enemies and grab that materia. It’s very easy touse summon materia in theFinal Fantasy 7 Remake, so ensure to grab this one.
Fire Materia
During the side questNuisance in the Factory, players will be in the normally inaccessible factory area. Here’s a great video on how to grab it:
Elemental Materia
Add elemental damage to any melee attack with this materia. During Chapter 6, use the second gondola to the Sunlamp 2 area. Go around the cargo containers and take the ladder down. Kill the enemies, and use the control panel to lower the walkway. On top will be the a free MP Up materia, so grab that while Cloud is here. After that, line up the walkway with the gate so players can walk through. The Elemental Materia will be on the next platform at the far end.
Although this materia is great for all characters, it seems to do best with Cloud’s melee attacks. Even if players haveswitched characters out, Cloud still seems like the best choice for this particular Mako ball.
