While Alear doesn’t get to make major choices that affect the game like previous main characters, such as Corrin or Byleth, they still have things that make them stand out from the rest.

7Full Use Of Emblem Rings

The Emblem Rings are one of the major gameplay mechanics introduced in this new game.Any character can be synced with any of the available ringsin the player’s possession to grant them great abilities and boosts.

However, if one character can push the rings to their full potential, it’s often Alear. Due to their battle style being classified as Dragon, they are granted extra effects when Engaged with Emblems. An example of this is Corrin or Camilla’s Dragon Vein, where Alear has access to all the Dragon Veins, compared to other characters only having one. This gives Alear more options on the battlefield.

6Not Exactly A Divine Dragon

While for the majority of the game, it is believed that Alear was the child of Lumera and a member of the Divine Dragons, it was later revealed that this wasn’t really the case. Alear was, in fact, the blood child of Sombron, the Fell Dragon they dreaded so much. This was discovered after being pointed out by Griss when he revealed that Fell Dragons summon Emblems by Invocations, just like Alear does.

Alear is, however, not fully a Fell Dragon either, as Lumera shortened her life so that Alear can succeed her as the next Divine Dragon. This is also the reason Emblems summoned by Alear can speak and aren’t robbed of their free will, unlike those summoned by the Fell Dragon.

5Blue And Red Symbolism

When Alear’s character was revealed, many people were displeased with their design as it looks tacky and has a clash of colors when it comes to their hair and eyes, with one side being blue and the other side being red. The game explains that this is due to Alear being half-Divine Dragon and half-Fell Dragon, but it could also be a reference to something else.

In Fire Emblem games, two hair colors are quite recurring among lords, specifically blue and red hair, as seen in the shades of bluewith Marth, Lucina, or Byleth, and reddish like Roy, Leif, Eliwood, and so on. One other thing this could refer to could be the colors of enemy and player units being red and blue respectively and representing how Alear goes from a player unit to an enemy one.

4Differences Between Alear’s Genders

The game allows the player to pick between two versions of Alear: Female Alear and Male Alear. And unlike previousFire Emblemgames, there are very few differences between the two genders. For example, the two Alearsare able to romancethe same characters and both can access the same classes, minus the Pegasus Knight class, which is female-only.

However, one small detail many might have missed is in their hair and eye colors. While it is the same blue and red design, one easily missable difference is the side on which each color is. Female Alear’s hair is blue on her left and red on her right, with her eyes being red on the left and blue on the right. For Male Alear, the opposite is true.

3Many Siblings

Through the game, it was first believed that Alear is Lumena’s only child. It turns out that Lumera never had any kids to the player’s knowledge. Rather, Alear is the child of the Fell Dragon, Sombron. It was revealed that Alear wasn’t his only child either. During the war that occurred a thousand years ago, all of Sombron’s children, spare for two, died.

The only sibling of Alear that is well known is Veyle, as she is a major part of the story, and her relationship with Alear is extremely important. But besides her, it isn’t confirmed how many siblings Alear might’ve had, but it’s known that it’s at least 5, with Veyle included.

2Growth Stats

Alear is one of the most balanced characters, stat-wise, making them a jack of all trades. This is similar to most otherFire Emblemleads as this is useful if the player wants to take Alear’s growth in different directions and not be limited by their development.

Their stats, without taking into consideration their class, go as follows: 60% HP, 5% Build, 35% Strength, 20% Magic, 45% Dexterity, 50% Speed, 40% Defense, 25% Resistance, and 25% Luck. This means that Alear’s only real weakness is the use of and defense against Magic.

1Similarities To Other Fire Emblem Characters

Alear’s character can be compared to previousFire Emblemcharacters in many ways. Firstly, Corrin and they share similar backgrounds as they’re both the child of the main villain that happens to be, in both cases, a Fell Dragon. Similarly to Flayn and Tiki, they’re all dragons that were put to sleep for a long period of time. Just like Robin, they have an evil version of themselves and are amnesiac at the beginning of the game.

They’re also similar to Bylethand Shez in the sense that they’re the main characters with limited customization ability, besides their name, sex, and birthday.
