Epic Games has been givingFortnitefans various things to vote on in the battle royale through the first half of Season 8 and a new vote has just begun.Fortniteplayers are now being tasked with choosing between the Combat SMG or the Combat Assault Rifle.
Epic Games just announced the new poll inFortniteChapter 2 Season 8 which players will donate gold towards in order to see a new weapon added to the loot pool.Fortnitefans can vote at donation boards that are scattered around the battle royale island as part of the ongoing War Effort initiated by J. B. Chimpanski. The new battle pass character has already hadFortniteplayers donate gold bars towards Turret Stations and the Shockwave Launcher.

Fortnitefans haven’t had access to the Combat Assault Rifle in the battle royale game mode yet, so some fans are choosing that weapon by default. There have been several occasions in the past in which players could use the Combat SMG, soFortnitefans may already be naturally disinclined to donate gold bars towards the vaulted weapon. This was also the case with the recently voted-inShockwave Launcherwhich overtook the Rift-to-Go which has previously been featured in other seasons ofFortnite.
One of the future teases for the War Effort this season is thereturn ofFortnite’s Mechswhich players will also need to donate gold bars to unvault the unpopular weaponized vehicle from Chapter 1 Season 10. The current donation boards are located near Stealthy Stronghold, Lazy Lake, Steamy Stacks, Sludgy Swamp, Holly Hedges, Pleasant Park, and Catty Corner. Considering how many gold bars it took to unlock the Shockwave Launcher,Fortnitefans will probably have to donate millions of them to unvault the Combat SMG or unlock the Combat Assault Rifle.
Fortnitefans continue to receive little changes to the battle royale and creative modes of the game thanks to Fortnitemares. There are several new skins as part of this year’s version of the annual event, with Frankenstein’s Monster,The Walking Dead’s Rick Grimes, and a gold variant of the classicFortniteSkull Trooper and Skull Ranger skins. Fortnitemares is also expected to introduce the secret battle pass skin and a new POI.
Several popularFortnitecontent creators have implored their communities to donate their gold bars towards the Combat Assault Rifle in order to see another new weapon added to the loot pool. While the gold bar donations aren’t guaranteed, there are still several tiers left of the War Effort to unlock. Each tier will reward players with additions to theFortnitebattle royale arsenal beyond weapons like theDual Fiend Hunter Crossbowswhich are being added with updates.
