Since then, the characters from the film’s eponymous team have been popping up all over the place, including inFortniteof all places. The smash-hit battle royale game’s seventh season of Chapter 2 will be drawing to a close over the next few weeks, but it still has a few surprises left up its sleeve.
NewFortniteskins based on characters fromThe Suicide Squadwere recently spied in the code by eagle-eyed dataminers, suggesting that fan favorites like King Shark and Weasel might be on their way to join Bloodsport on the frontlines. And just a couple of days ago, leaker and dataminer ShiinaBR revealed that an in-the-know insider had mentioned that John Cena’s Peacemaker would be joining the roster too, ahead of his standalone HBO show.

Cena’s HBO show is due to come out in January, so theFortniteskin, if it is on its way, might join the lineup then. Alternatively, it could be planned to coincide with the release of Season 8, to ride the wave of good press in the months followingThe Suicide Squad’s release.

The game has been on something of a superhero/supervillain binge lately, bringing big names like Wonder Woman, Superman, and Gamora to the lineup.

Still, the jury’s still out on whether they grant any tangible benefits or detriments.
Less ambiguous is the clear inspiration behindFortnite’s new Imposters game mode. The new mode lifts heavily from the viral hitAmong Us, and the similarities have raised some eyebrows. Discussion has emerged about the risk of massive corporate titans like Epic squashing smaller indie developers likeAmong Us' Innersloth by taking the same ideas and putting their considerable resources behind them to boost their own version.
Innersloth’s Victoria Tran drew attention to the almost identical themes and terminology, while programmer Gary Porter pointed out the uncanny similarities between maps. It remains unclear whether John Cena’s Peacemaker will have an unfair advantage in Imposters mode due to being unable to be seen.
