When it comes toFortnite, it would seem that change is the only constant. The immensely popular free-to-play title is in a perpetual state of flux with its content, from the named locations, to NPCs, vehicles, and weapons - many favorites come and go. One item now making its return is one that has proven to be fairly divisive amongst players: the Junk Rift.
First added during Season X of Chapter 1,Fortnite’s Junk Rift item is a throwable item that spawns a Rift above the area where it lands, generating a large falling object. The item has seen its fair share of technical issues, withthe Junk Rift being disabledafter being in the game for just a few days. Junk Rifts have been otherwise vaulted since the beginning ofFortniteChapter 2, making it the item’s first time back in the item pool in nearly three years.

Where to Find Junk Rift
As part ofFortnite’s most recent update, the Junk Rift is now available to find on the island, and they thankfully aren’t too difficult to locate. An Epic-tiered (purple) item,Fortniteplayers can find Junk Rifts as floor loot, in Chests, and in Supply Drops. Dropping in single quantities, players can stack up to four of the item in total. Junk Rifts spawn a random prop, like a metal dinosaur, but it still deals 200 damage if hit directly regardless of what spawns. Objects from Junk Rifts also deal up to 100 shockwave damage, making it quite the powerful item.
Junk Rifts also excel at taking down structures, making it one of the most effective methods of dealing with opponents who heavily utilize building as a tactic. The spawned object instantly plows through any and all builds, making it a quicker alternative to Firefly Jars or eventhe fairly new Ripsaw Launcher weapon. While the Ripsaw Launcher is designed to tear through structures, continuously cutting for a duration, it is only in a straight line, making its area of effect rather narrow. Junk Rift objects destroy everything in their path and are much bigger than a sawblade.
The other major component ofFortnite’s latest update is new crossover content withRocket League.Fortnite’sRocket LeagueLive questsare now available, giving players a chance at earning a variety ofRocket Leaguecosmetics. The event is also offering a unique take on the popular Team Rumble mode that ties directly into the outcome ofRocket LeagueWorld Championship games, the main reason for the crossover. Now if only Epic would allow Junk Rifts inRocket League.
With only about a month left to go in the current chapter, players should be sure toquickly earn any remaining Season 3 Battle Starsif they want to unlock Darth Vader or any of this season’s Super Level Styles.
