Summary
According to a leak, Kirara and Nilou may be the next characters to receive new skins inGenshin Impactand will also feature prominently in the Flagship Event for Version 4.8.Genshin Impacthas traditionally done alternate outfits for its characters in two batches every year: during the Lantern Rite and during the Summer Event. The previous beneficiaries were Shenhe, Ganyu, and Xinqiu, who received their skins in Version 4.4. Curiously, the two 5-Stars have yet to make a banner appearance since the debut of their alternate outfits, but this will likely not be the case in Version 4.8.
Kirara is a4-Star character inGenshin Impactwho was introduced during Version 3.7, and though many found her inclusion out of place at first, her connection to Chiori has established a permanent presence inGenshin Impact’s story. From a gameplay perspective, she is a mainstay in teams that need a Dendro shield, which is an ability that only one other character (Baizhu) can provide. By contrast, Nilou is famous for her Bloom compositions, as her ability kit transforms the elemental reaction into something much more lethal.

According to Uncle Teyvat, Kirara and Nilou are both set to receive alternate outfits in Version 4.8. Unfortunately, Uncle Teyvat also claims thatWanderer inGenshin Impactwill not receive a new skin, despite being a main character in the Flagship Event for Version 4.8. Emilie and Navia are also featured in the 2024 Summer Event, which will be set in an enchanted forest and once again hosted by a member of the Hexenzirkel. It should be noted that a new alternate skin for Kirara directly implies she will be the free 4-Star character of Version 4.8, though it’s too early to tell if she’ll also have a presence on the Event Banners during the patch.
Kirara and Nilou Could Get New Skins in Genshin Impact Version 4.8
WhileNilou inGenshin Impactis due for a banner appearance, her skin continues an interesting pattern that began with Jean during the Midsummer Island Adventure in Version 1.6. Namely, Jean was the first Mondstadt character to receive a premium outfit, and she happened to be a female 5-Star Sword character. This was followed up in Version 2.4 by Keqing being the first Liyue character to receive a skin, who is also a female 5-Star Sword wielder in her own right. The pattern continues with Ayaka in Version 3.4 and apparently Nilou in Version 4.8. Though HoYoverse is fond of breaking patterns, a Clorinde or Furina outfit in Natlan wouldn’t be out of the question.
Though the Event Banners forVersion 4.8 ofGenshin Impactaren’t confirmed, many players speculate that Nilou and Wriothesley will join Emilie as featured characters. Emilie’s ability kit will focus on Burning, which puts her at odds with Nilou, but she may have plenty of synergy with Wriothesley or even possibly Kirara.Genshin Impactplayers can expect to hear more information as beta testing for Version 4.8 unfolds.
