Summary
It would seem that Geo is finally getting some much-deserved love inGenshin Impact, as Version 5.1 is expected to add a 5-Star Geo Support character who will play a major role in the meta. While Geo initially held some promise, it’s always been considered lackluster compared to the other elements inGenshin Impact. Designed to be inert, Geo has the fewest Elemental Reactions, and derives its power from pure strength alone. Apart from unique characters such as Zhongli and Navia, this characteristic tends to lock viable teams into a Mono Geo composition.
Perhaps the most famous example of a Mono Geo team includesItto inGenshin Impact, who can further be enabled by Support characters such as Albedo, Gorou, Chiori, or Zhongli. However, HoYoverse has been toying around with Geo in an unorthodox way in the Fontaine era, most notably by introducing Navia – a 5-Star Geo Claymore who converts Crystallize shards into ammunition, allowing her to deal a significant amount of bonus damage. Even Chiori, who is compatible with Mono Geo, has seen synergy with Arlecchino in Zhongli-supported teams.

While details on theupcoming characters in Version 5.0remain scarce,hxg_diluc has confirmedthat Version 5.1 will not only feature a 5-Star Geo character, but that she will play an important role in the meta during the Natlan era. This Geo Support will be a tall female and she will be able to generate some type of shield. Though her weapon type is unknown, many Genshin Impact fans are hoping that she will wield a Catalyst.
Natlan Could Finally Bring Geo to the Meta in Genshin Impact
ThoughGeo as an element inGenshin Impactis in a much brighter place after the release of Navia and Chiori, it is still hardly a popular choice in the meta. On top of not having a lot of flashy teams, Geo also remains the only element without a dedicated healer. Crystallize Shards are useless outside Navia teams, and Constructs are too easily destroyed by bosses and larger enemies. While Navia has addressed some of the issues of Crystallize as an Elemental Reaction, a powerful Geo Support could go a long way in letting the inert element’s potential shine.
Players can expect to see an official preview ofGenshin ImpactVersion 5.0 in July, and the patch itself is scheduled to launch in late August 2024.Natlan will introduce mounts toGenshin Impact, but it is also rumored to improve on old Cryo and Hydro units such as Shenhe, Ayato, and Mona. While a Geo character inGenshin Impactbeing meta is unexpected, it would certainly be a breath of fresh air.
