Ghost of Tsushimalooks set to be another interesting PlayStation 4 exclusive and the anticipation for the release of the game is building. The samurai basedGhost of Tsushimalooks to be one of thebiggest releases of Julyand many players are wondering about how its huge open world, stealth, and fighting mechanics will come together. At the moment, one of the most notable aspects is its cinematic inspiration and it seems this extends to the music ofGhost of Tsushima.
The developer behind the game, Sucker Punch Productions, has noted that while creating a vast open-worldGhost of Tsushimawas influenced by samurai filmsand the title is also showcasing the skills of film composers. True to the eastern inspiration of the game, Sucker Punch hired two composers who have worked on samurai films and they have now released teasers of the tracks alongside a pre-order listing for the soundtrack of the game.

Composers Ilan Eshkeri and Shigeru “Ume” Umebayashi were both enlisted to provide a soundtrack for the game. The primary reason for selecting two composers appears to be because ofthe size ofGhost of Tsushimaas well as the ability to exchange ideas. For those who are unaware of the work of Eshkeri and Umebayashi, Esheki has worked on cinematic titles such asNinja Assassin,47 Roninas well as video games likeSims 4. Umebayashi has a deep history of working with film and has been responsible for the soundtracks to films such asThe Real Shaolin,True Legend, andHouse of Flying Daggers. The composers discussed the writing process behind the music and Umebayashi explained: “When listeners hear the music for the game, I hope that they feel the hearts of the people of Tsushima – those who love the land, living and plowing with the natural bounties it offers, and those of the warriors who take their katanas and follow the way of the samurai.” This sounds like an incredibly immersive experience and combined with aduality of the protagonist inGhost of Tsushimathat Eshkeri has described it will be interesting to hear the dynamics of the soundtrack.
There is no doubt thatGhost of Tsushimais an ambitious project and with mounting anticipation, it may be a resounding success commercially. With acclaimed composers, many will be intrigued by the soundtrack which appears to be expansive and filled with its own musical story.
Ghost of Tsushimawill be available on July 17, exclusively for the PlayStation 4. TheGhost of Tsushima Soundtrackwill be released on the same day.
