This article will have spoilers for God of War Ragnarok.AGod of War Ragnarokplayer finds the riddle that Brok gives to Mimir in a Christmas cracker.God of War Ragnarokis the critically acclaimed and fan-favorite sequel to the 2018God of Wargame from Santa Monica Studio that is praised for its engaging gameplay and brilliant storytelling. Players are still reeling from the game’s most surprising, brutal, and tragic moments, of which there are quite a few.
Many characters die inGod of War Ragnarok, and fans that have played other games in theGod of Warseries know that character deaths are a staple for the franchise and a tool that the developers have used to drive the plot of the game forward. One of the most tragic deaths in the game, though, is that of Brok, one of the Huldra brothers along with the (mostly) kind-hearted Sindri.

So, when Redditor ShakeyHaych found a riddle in his Christmas cracker that reads, “What gets bigger the more you take away from it? A hole,” they became emotional remembering Brok.Brok asks this same riddle to Mimir inGod of War Ragnarok, and it makes for one of the most tragic side stories to come up in a game already full of difficult moments. Mimir tries for the entire game to think of the answer, but he can’t come up with it. Then, in a post-story side quest, players attend Brok’s funeral and Mimir very sadly speaks the answer to the riddle.
TheGod of Warfranchise is full of epic and moving moments, andGod of War Ragnarokis no exception. The game is so full of lovable characters and interesting relationships that the different moments that test and challenge these relationships are always so compelling. The development team shows off its narrative chops as it creates a colorful tapestry of characters and plot that weaves in and out of triumphant and melancholy tones.
One thing that this game does, just like its 2018 predecessor, is subvert expectations. For example, fans did not expect Faye to be the way she is inGod of War Ragnarok, in many different ways. In that same way, the game kills off one of its darlings in Brok, and it ends up having quite a lasting impact on players and fans.
As the game finds itself in its second month, more and more fans are experiencing Fimbulwinter along with Kratos and Atreus and everyone else in theGod of War Ragnarok’s diverse cast. As time goes on, the game will continue to have a deep impact on players and leave its mark on video game history.
God of War Ragnarokis available now for PS4 and PS5.
