Now, Santa Monica Studio has unveiled the latest 05.03 update forGod of War Ragnarok, which mostly fixes several bugs and issues. The new patch made a few changes to gameplay, fixing seven gameplay-related bugs, while reducing or increasing the difficulty of specific segments of the story, including fine-tuning the challenge of various combat sequences. Also, the patch fixes two bugs with cinematics, five known issues regarding stability, and 13 bugs related to its interface, mostly concerning subtitles overlapping UI in some instances, or not being properly displayed. Overall, it’s not a very big patch, but it may make for a smoother experience for people playingGod of War Ragnarok.

The update comes on the heels oftheGod of War Ragnarok ValhallaDLC, which was announced during The Game Awards 2023. This free DLC added a roguelike mode to the game, in which Kratos faces increasingly difficult combat encounters in the Norse realm of Valhalla, but it also contains a surprising amount of story-focused parts that continued the story that previously ended inRagnarok. The DLC was released together with the 05.01 update, which introduced some fixes to bugs and stability problems.

While Santa Monica Studio is still improvingGod of War Ragnarok, there are some hints that the studio may already be working on another project that could potentially feature Kratos again. A recent job listing from Santa Monica indicated that the studio is looking for designers who can develop third-person melee action RPGs and that candidates who are “fluent” with the overall design of the two previousGod of Wargames will be favored. This strongly indicates that thestudio may be creating anotherGod of Wargame, but unfortunately, this is all just speculation at this point.
