Delays have hurtGotham Knights' momentum, but that’s likely to change once the next game in the popularBatmanaction game franchise starts being marketed again. The game, which allows players to play as Nightwing, Red Hood, Batgirl, and Robin, remains tentatively planned for release on October 25 later this year. Yet there’s now some evidence that Warner Bros. could be changing its plans forGotham Knights, not for its release date but rather its supported platforms.Watchful online denizens have noticed something strange regarding theGotham Knightsrating from Taiwan. The rating itself is nothing out of the normal;Gotham Knightsreceived a PG-15 rating due to in-game violence. What’s notable about the rating is that the only platformsGotham Knightswas reviewed for were thePlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. There’s no rating for either the PlayStation 4 or the Xbox One.RELATED:Gotham Knights Official Collector’s Compendium Available for Pre-orderSome are speculating that this could be the first evidence that publisher Warner Bros. Interactive has decided to makeGotham Knightsa next-gen exclusive game. This could be due to frustrations over hardware limitations with the older consoles or potential agreements that make a focus on next-gen more attractive. At the very least, a next-gen exclusiverelease forGotham Knightswould allow for overall more impressive visuals. But it would come at the cost of a much smaller available playerbase.

A Taiwanese rating is by no means concrete evidence thatGotham Knightswon’t be coming to PS4 and Xbox One as previously announced, of course. The missing ratings could still be coming; the ratings that were published could have been revealed too early or mistakenly, or any other number of human errors could have been made. UntilWarner Bros. Interactiveofficially confirms that a change has been made,Batmanfans should take the possibility with a heavy grain of salt.

Further information regardingGotham Knightsis likely coming before too long. May will likely be the calm before the storm, in regard to significant gaming news. E3 may be canceled for 2022, but theSummer Game Festand other June events will be making up for E3’s absence. Look forward to more information on Warner Bros. Interactive’s summer plans in the next month or so.

In the end, there are very few observable reasons for a major game developer like WB Games Montreal not to be able to support PS4 and Xbox One on a game long-planned for the platforms.Gotham Knights' developmentdefinitely does seem to have been tumultuous, but canceling support for platforms is a very rare circumstance. Nevertheless, if something does end up changing, Taiwan’sGotham Knightsrating appears to be the first evidence of it.

Gotham Knightsreleases October 25 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
