The Penguin is one of Batman’s most iconic villains, standing apart from the pack with the Joker, Two-Face, Catwoman, Scarecrow, and some others. It’s only natural then that the next upcoming Batman game,Gotham Knightsfrom WB Games Montreal, would want to feature Penguin prominently. That’s now been confirmed, with the addition being revealed via an IMDb listing ofGotham Knights' voice actors. Tied to that, the Penguin’s voice actor will be familiar to many game fans.
The IMDb listing forGotham Knightswas recently updated to show that the role of the Penguin will be played byElias Toufexis. This is notable for two reasons. The first being that Penguin has not been confirmed forGotham Knightsyet, so the addition of a voice actor for the role is an early leak. The second reason is that Toufexis is a familiar name. Toufexis is a journeyman in the gaming industry, having performed dozens of roles over the years.

Toufexis' biggest role is asDeus Ex: Human RevolutionandDeus Ex: Mankind Dividedprotagonist Adam Jensen. The cyborg’s gravelly, deep voice was done by the same voice actor who will be performing as the Penguin inGotham Knights. Other roles includeAssassins Creed 2andAssassins Creed: Brotherhood’s Frederico Auditore, brother of protagonist Ezio Auditore,Fortnitevillain Ragnarok, and upcoming co-op shooterBack 4 Blood’s card guy Garner.
Regarding villains planned forGotham Knights, surprisingly little has been revealed about the action game so far. The game’s world premiere trailer, released in August 2020’s DC Fandome event, teased just two of Batman’s nefarious opponents. Mr. Freeze is shown just briefly, implying that he’s likely not one of the game’s main antagonists. More prominently featured is theCourt of Owls and its Talon assassins. Penguin can perhaps be added to this list now.
As for the reliability of the Penguin’s leak, nothing can be said with certainty until it’s officially confirmed byWB Games Montreal. However, these types of voice actor-related leaks aren’t uncommon in the gaming industry and are often reliable so long as they’re specific. It’s hard to get more specific than listing Penguin in the game’s cast on IMDb.
It may not be much longer before Batman fans get confirmation, either.DC’s Fandome event is returning in 2021, though it’s happening much later in the year than in 2020. DC Fandome 2021 will run on October 16. Don’t be surprised to seeGotham Knightsfeatured during the event, perhaps with a cameo by an Elias Toufexis-voiced Penguin.
