Summary
Trevor Philips is the most openly violent ofGrand Theft Auto 5’s protagonists, and he unsurprisingly has quite the body count. For a series that is generally over the top,Grand Theft Auto 5seems to go out of its way to make its characters and situations wilder than previous installments. This can be seen in the massive heists that the player pulls off, and it can certainly be seen in its protagonists, especially in the case of Trevor. While the player won’t be rampaging with Trevor all the time, he still more than earns his reputation.
Although all ofGrand Theft Auto 5’s protagonists are criminals, Trevor is the only one with a notable inclination toward violence. While Michael and Franklin are no strangers to a fight, Trevor revels in the chance to engage in bloodshed. In fact, the very first thing that players do once they control Trevor for the first time is kill a security guard. He’s also implied to have murdered the friends of his lackey Wade before the story, and some scenes that take place when switching to him imply that he recently killed someone. Michael and Franklin notably lack scenes like this, making Trevor’s dangerous nature more apparent.

Trevor Amasses Plenty of Kills in Grand Theft Auto 5
Trevor’s proper introduction is killingpreviousGrand Theft AutoprotagonistJohnny Klebitz before the player even takes control of him, and moving on to tear through the Lost MC as well. Canonically, Trevor ends up killing the O’Neil Brothers shortly after they cut a deal with Mr. Cheng. However, players can actually use an exploit to despawn them, although the story still treats them as dead. Aside from his criminal rivals, Trevor isn’t actually required to kill anyone else until after he meets up with Michael again. Even so, Trevor’s bloody introduction does plenty to explain Michael’s unease regarding their reunion.
Despite their tension, Trevor’s next kill coincides withMichael’s ownGTA 5kill count, as they team up to kill Marvin Medrazo’s brother as well as the pilot taking him to testify against him. After the ambiguous deaths of Floyd and Debra, Trevor quickly kills the owner of a strip club to turn the club into his new home base. After that, his only canonical kills are Steve Haines and a collaboration with Michael and Frank to kill Devin Weston, both in the finale of Ending C. Notably, Trevor is the only protagonist who never kills one of the others in any ending.
It’s no surprise that Trevor racks up such a body count. ConsideringTrevor’s list of crimes duringGTA 5, it’s actually somewhat surprising that it isn’t larger. Even in YouTuber DarkViperAU’s pacifist run attempt, Trevor still had a double-digit body count before his first mission even ended. Because Trevor is effectively solo during most of his early missions and also has a lot of combat-heavy missions, he ends up having to do a lot of kills personally. Considering that Trevor is the only character with access to Rampage missions, it wouldn’t be surprising if Trevor had the highest maximum kill count inGTA 5as well.
With at least seventeen confirmed storyline kills Trevor brings plenty of death toGrand Theft Auto 5. A prime example of avideo game protagonist who belongs in jail, Trevor introduces himself with a killing spree and continues to be the wild card of the team until the end credits. While players can try to reduce Trevor’s kill count through various tricks, there’s no way to get through the game without Trevor committing several murders along the way. While not the deadliestGrand Theft Autoprotagonist, Trevor carves a destructive path throughGrand Theft Auto 5.
Grand Theft Auto 5is available now for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
