Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Editionis out today with many older fans, and some newcomers, keen to get stuck into the early 2000 classic Rockstar titles. While some have beenconcerned about the visuals of theGTA Trilogy, it’s nevertheless an opportunity for people to relive the games that would set the bar for future open world titles. Either that or a way for Rockstar Games to keep the community somewhat happy while it negates talking about the whereabouts ofGTA 6. As with pretty much any release from the developer, there’s almost certainly going to be nods to one of its other IPs, and it seems as though one fan may have spotted one already.
Posting to Reddit recently, user Cooper_Raccoon has captured a screenshot from theGrand Theft Auto Trilogy, specifically the remastered version of 2004’sSan Andreas, which shows protagonist Carl “CJ” Johnson inside Ryder’s house. On the wall just behind CJ, there is a framed picture, which the original poster is certain is of a screenshot fromRed Dead Redemption 2.

While the user cannot be completely certain that it’s in reference to Rockstar’s other open-world series, one commenter thinks it might be an image showing theAurora Basin whereRDR2players can catch legendary fish. Again, it might be hard to tell, but astute fans of the wild west action title may be able to confirm. It’s unlikely that this is just a coincidental image without comparing this screenshot to the originalSan Andreasto see if the framed painting is there too, so this is most likely the studio making references to one game within another.
This is also not the firstRDRreference that’s been in a Rockstar title.GTA 5is simply teeming withRed DeadEaster eggs, such as a nod to John Marston on a character’s t-shirt, as well as a reference to the universe during an in-game commercial. In any case, what Cooper_Raccoon has spotted is almost certainly an intentional reference toRDR2, and it will be interesting to see what other Easter eggs players will find.
As lucrative as theGTA Remastered Trilogyis almost certainly going to be,fans have been waiting for years about any news onGTA 6. Rockstar Games appear to be keeping quiet about things, suggesting that it’s perhaps in development in secret, or the company is too busy with the remasters, as well as the money spinners that areGTA 5andGTA Online, to make any headway on the next installment.
