Summary

The community director at 343 Industries, Brian “Ske7ch” Jarrard, has revealed some bad news forHalo Infinitefans, noting that no campaign content is in active development at the studio. While 343 Industries has continued toupdateHalo Infiniteon the multiplayer front, many fans had hoped that a follow-up on the Master Chief and the events of the game’s campaign would be released via future DLC.

The campaign forHalo Infinitelaunched at the end of 2021, in addition to the multiplayer component. After the disappointment surrounding thestory for 2015’sHalo 5, 343 Industries went back to focusing primarily on the Master Chief as opposed to other characters, such as Jameson Locke. This decision to bring John-117 back into the spotlight was generally viewed as a move in the right direction, with some fans enjoying the overall campaign experience, which included a semi-open world to explore. Unfortunately, it appears that there likely won’t be more stories for players to experience inHalo Infinitemoving forward.

This news came during a discussion on the Kinda Funny Games' Xcast podcast, where Brian “Ske7ch” Jarrard talked about many topics related toHalo Infinite. While there were many positive takeaways from the discussion, fans learned some disappointing news about the future of single-player content in the game. According to Jarrard, there was “nothing in active development” regarding campaign content forHalo Infinite.

“I’ll be honest, we have nothing to announce today regarding any campaign content for Infinite. I’ll even go a step further and tell you that right now there’s nothing in active development on that front.” - Brian Jarrard

It is unclear whether anything substantial was previously in development campaign-wise forHalo Infinitebased on Jarrard’s comments. However, Jarrard noted the decision to “double-down on improving the multiplayer product” came about a little over a year ago. Based on these comments, any plans for story DLC might have been nixed prior to that.

While no additional single-player campaign is coming toHalo Infinitefor the foreseeable future, 343 Industries has continued to release new multiplayer content. Most recently, the developer introduced Firefight: King of the Hill. Based on the classic PvE game mode first seen inHalo 3: ODST,Halo Infinite’s version of Firefightpits players against waves of Banished enemies with a twist. This time, players must capture and hold hills in order to win rounds.

Time will tell what the future ofHalolooks like. WithHalo Infinitefocusing primarily on multiplayer, it seems the best opportunity for anewHalocampaigncould come in the form of a brand-new game. Nevertheless, Jarrard noted that 343 Industries wants to continue to explore the possibility of adding more PvE-centric content toHalo Infinite’s multiplayer in the months ahead, just not in the form of campaign DLC. In addition, he noted that Forge could potentially open the door for fans to get involved in adding more PvE modes. Whether this will be enough to satiate the game’s community remains to be seen.
