Helldivers 2reveals an all-new Premium Warbond coming next week that offers experimental-style weapons including an arc throwing shotgun and more. It’s been a whirlwind ride for Arrowhead Game Studios following the launch of its massively popular third person online shooter. In the weeks that followed,Helldivers 2experienced a massive spike in popularity, something the studio wasn’t prepared for as the servers struggled to deal with the crush of excited players. With a constant stream of updates and behind the scenes server improvements, fans have been able to log in and fight back against enemy forces without issue.
With many of the pressing game issues now behind it, Arrowhead has been able to move forward with improving the game with new content and continued updates. A recentHelldivers 2update added weather effectsincluding fire tornadoes and meteor strikes. However, the update also introduced the first round of big nerfs to popular gear like the Breaker shotgun and Energy Shield Backpack stratagem, upsetting some in the community who relied on those items for higher difficulty missions. While the update also added much needed buffs for various underused gear like the Flamethrower, Arrowhead is preparing to roll out even more new weapons and armor for players.
In a newPlayStation Blog post, Arrowhead confirmed the arrival of the next Premium Warbond called Cutting Edge. Starting on March 14,Helldivers 2players can spend Super Creditsto unlock the items held within, which include 3 new armor sets, 3 “experimental” weapons, a stun grenade, and other unlockable items like capes, emotes, and player cards. The new armor sets, named EX-03 Prototype 3, EX-16 Prototype 316, and EX-00 Prototype X, offer new gear with Earthy-tones of tans and greens, and according to the limited descriptions, may offer some unique passive bonuses different from what players have seen to this point.

Arc-12 Blitzer
The first of three weapons is the arc throwing shotgun known as the Blitzer. Similar to otherweapons inHelldivers 2like the Railgun, players have two different firing modes with this shotgun, including a quick short-range lightning blast, or holding the trigger for first off a more powerful burst.
SP-8P Punisher Plasma
Another shotgun is included in the Cutting Edge warbond, though unlike theBlitzer, this one fires exploding plasma rounds similar to what one would expect from a grenade launcher.
LAS-16 Sickle
The last of the trio is a rifle that fires off laser rounds in a burst fire style mode. This weapon does not need to be reloaded, though players will want to make sure it doesn’t overheat.
The additional content will likely please players waiting for new content to unlock. However, the weapons and armor are just a small first step, asHelldivers 2has been teasing even bigger changes with the addition of pilotable mech suits called theEXO-45 Patriot Exosuit. WhilesomeHelldivers 2players have gotten to experience the mech and buggyalready, the developer has been using social media to tease an even bigger rollout of these items in the coming weeks.
