A recent clip uploaded to thePokemonsubreddit shows what happens whenPokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers use the Fighting-type move Low Kick on the game’s heaviest Pokemon, theTitan form of Klawf. Low Kick has been a mainstay attack in thePokemongames since Generation 1, but what it does has changed quite dramatically over the years.
The original version of Low Kick in theGeneration 1Pokemongameswas a fairly standard Fighting-type attack, dealing damage and having a chance to cause Pokemon to flinch. This made it extremely useful in some fights, as a flinching Pokemon essentially gives up its turn to attack. However, Game Freak made a major change to Low Kick starting withPokemon Ruby andSapphire. Instead of having static attack power, Low Kick since the Generation 3 games has dealt more damage to heavier Pokemon.

Low Kick inPokemon Scarlet and Violetfunctions the same. The heavier the Pokemon, the more damage Low Kick does to it.Pokemon Scarlet and Violetplayer -et37- decided to show off just how powerful Low Kick can be when used in the right situations, taking a level 21 Flamigo to fight the Titan version of Klawf, who is supposedly the heaviest Pokemon in the new games. As seen in the video, a single Low Kick attack from Flamigo nearly wipes out Klawf’s entire health bar, triggering a cut-scene that begins the next phase of the encounter.
Comments on the video were very complimentary toward Flamigo, with many hailing it as one of the surprisingly strong Pokemon one can have on theirPokemon Scarlet and Violetteam. While many fans havemade fun of Flamigo for being little more than a literal flamingo, it seems that the Flying/Fighting-type Pokemon has its uses in battle. Of course, another Fighting-type Pokemon inPokemon Scarlet and Violetusing Low Kick on Klawf could have the same impact on his health bar.
If one is following theoptimal path forPokemon Scarlet and Violet, Klawf will be one of the first challenges they conquer. Klawf is meant to be the first Titan Pokemon thatPokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers fight in the game as part of their quest to collect Herba Mystica. This special item is given to the player’s box art legendary to give them new traversal abilities, in turn allowingPokemon Scarlet and Violettrainers to reach more areas of the Paldea region.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violetare available now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
