Curses are kind of a big deal in the wizarding world, as many of the patients at St Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries can certainly attest. The quest first becomes available afterHogwarts Legacyplayers have completed Charles Rookwood’s Trial, though only once have beaten the quest-giver Samantha Dale in a round of Summoner’s Court. Assuming they have done so, they’ll find the young Ravenclaw hanging around in the Herbology greenhouses and will be able to begin the quest by speaking with her about her brother.
How to Complete the ‘Beeting’ a Curse Side Quest in Hogwarts Legacy
After speaking with Samantha, players will need to make their way to the Dale family tomb, which can be found to the southeast of Hogwarts near the small hamlet of Brocburrow, which is where the “Kidnapped Cabbages” and “Troll Control” side quests can be triggered. Once inside, players should burn away the Devil’s Snare using one of their fire-based spells and then slide down the large slope in front of them.
At the bottom of the slope, players will come face-to-face with The Riparian Troll, which serves as one ofHogwarts Legacy’s Infamous Foes. Despite this elevated status though, the strategy for defeating it remains identical tobeating any other Troll inHogwarts Legacy. This means dodging its charge and club attacks and using Protego and R1/RB to hit the Troll with its own boulders. As always, Ancient Magic and other powerful spells can do a lot of the heavy lifting here.

After defeating the Troll, players should head through the narrow passageway at the back of the chamber and return Marmaduke’s Crest. There are a few chests hidden behind breakable walls that players can nab before leaving the tomb, but due tothe randomized nature of chests inHogwarts Legacyand how quickly Gear becomes obsolete, these are very much skippable. Upon returning to Samantha, who’s still in the greenhouses near the Herbology classroom, players will get 180 XP and the Totem Collection item, which can be used to decorate the Room of Requirement.
Hogwarts Legacyis available now on PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC. PS4, Xbox One, and Switch versions are currently in development.
