Although the party management system inFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthis relatively straightforward, some players may appreciate a little guidance when it comes to navigating the elaborate main menu.
The short guide below will take a look at how to access theparty management system, swap between different party members, choose party member presets, and appoint aparty leaderto lead the charge in battle.

How Party Management Works in FF7 Rebirth
After reaching the Grasslands for the first time inchapter 2 ofFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth, players are given access to the party management system. Even though Cloud is accompanied by four caring companions, only two of these can actively help him in battle. What this means is that the party is divided into two categories.
Lastly, the party must have a single leader who, by default, is Cloud. A party leader is essentially the character that players will be given control of when a combat scenario first plays out.A differentFF7 Rebirthmember can be assignedas the leader of the party manually.

How To Swap Party Members in FF7 Rebirth
In order to do so, players can simply navigate to theCombat Settingsin the main menu. From there, they need to press theEdit Partybutton (Square) to be able to modify the party. Once in the party edit menu, players are able to see which members are in the frontline and the backline respectively. Moreover, bypressing the bumper buttons (L1 and R1), players can switch between the three possible party-member presets.
To change party members in any given preset, players may simply highlight the companion they wish to remove from the frontline by pressing theConfirmbutton (X) and then highlighting the companion in the backline that they wish to make the switch with. This will swap the two companions. The order of the members within the frontline does not dictate anything significant.

In order to assign a leader, highlight the member in the frontline party and press theSet as Leaderbutton (Triangle) to confirm the character that players will start battles with. The settings are saved automatically, so after making all of these changes, players can navigate out of the main menu and back to their game.
