A lot of the side quests inFinal Fantasy 16serve more as a means of exploring the world of Valisthea and the people who reside there than they do as vehicles for enhancing the gameplay experience for players. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it can make completing some of them feel a little tedious at times, particularly theside quests that involve a lot of back and forth.

With this in mind, the “Pride Comes Before a Fall” side quest is somewhat refreshing, as it is both short and simple, with players only needing to best a couple of imperial soldiers in combat to complete it. Whether or not it is actually enjoyable is perhaps debatable, but the rewards that players get for finishing the quest make this one of theFinal Fantasy 16side quests that are actually worth completing.
How to Complete Pride Comes Before a Fall in Final Fantasy 16
The “Pride Comes Before a Fall” side quest first becomes available whileFinal Fantasy 16players are tackling the “The Dame” subquest of the “Righting Wrongs” main story mission. To trigger it, they’ll simply need to head into the courtyard of the Imperial Training Grounds and speak with Leon; who is one of two Garrison Soldiers who can be found standing around near some weapon racks.
Leon isn’t too happy to see that Clive is working with Isabelle and will challenge him to a fight. If players accept, they’ll need to approach Leon again and then select “Yes” when asked whether they want to draw their blade. The resulting fight is incredibly simple, withClive’s Eikonic Abilitiesmaking fairly quick work of Leon. Players will then need to beat the other soldier, Robin, but despite being a little more able than his companion, he too will go down relatively easily and without too much of a fight.

As the two men lick their wounds and lament their poor performance in battle, players will receive aMeteorite,22 XP, and1,100 Gilas a reward for their victory. As Clive walks away, Robin will ask him to tell The Dame that the two men at least got a few good hits in, though, in all likelihood, this probably won’t have been the case in most players' experience.
